West Ham United have slapped a £12 million price-tag on striker Craig Bellamy.
The Mirror says the Hammers have quoted the fee to FOUR top clubs, who were hoping to take advantage of their financial problems only to find an auction has started that could see Gianfranco Zola’s club making a healthy profit.
Tottenham, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Celtic have all made enquiries about Bellamy, who could be one of the hottest tickets in the transfer window – even at his inflated fee.
An insider at one of Bellamy’s suitors revealed: “The price was starting at around £8m but now it has gone higher and higher – we could all do with Man City dropping out of the race.”
West Ham United are listening to offers for defender Matthew Upson.
The Mirror says West Ham are playing a bold hand with skipper Upson.
Manchester City and Tottenham both want him and will pay £8m, but the fee is £10m for the defender. (tribalfootball.com)
Not sure what to make of this rumour, I can understand Spurs making a move for Matthew Upson given the lack of strength in depth in the central defensive department, especially given injury concerns over Woody and Ledley, however I am confident that Harry would not make a move for Bellamy. Even though the Welshman has been In decent form of late I don’t rate him as a player Redknapp would move for, especially at that price, after all he is approaching 30 years of age and has injury worries of his own and hasn’t really been very prolific since he was at Blackburn. Do Spurs fans think either of these West Ham players fit the bill?

I agree with you, Bellamy will not be coming to White Hart Lane, in fact i don’t see anyone going for him. Upson would be a good signing though

Bellamy is much too thick to play for a club like Spurs..When he was at Norwich they sent him to a bank to open a bank account to enable them to pay his wages direct into the account . When he was talking to the bank employee to give his details he was asked “OCCUPATION?” He replied “STRIKER” NOW THATS WHAT i CALL THICK.
