Tottenham have reportedly had a £6 million bid for striker Craig Bellamy turned down by West Ham. The Hammers are rumored to be open to offers for all their players because of the financial problems facing their Icelandic owner Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson, but they had dismissed Spurs’ offer for Bellamy. (Daily Mail)
Tottenham have opened talks with West Ham United for striker Craig Bellamy.
The financial uncertainty at Upton Park has led to speculation that Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola may be forced into selling his best players.
Zola outlined his determination to keep his leading figures earlier this week and admitted he would be ‘very annoyed’ if he did lose any members of his squad.
Bellamy has also spoken of his happiness at West Ham recently after he was linked with a return to Celtic where he previously spent a spell on loan.
However, he admitted he was unsure if the Hammers would accept any bids, and Sky Sports News understands that Spurs are now trying to test their London rivals’ resolve.
Negotiations between the two clubs are understood to have started, with West Ham keen to recoup almost double the £7.5million they paid for Bellamy 18 months ago. (tribalfootball.com)
I have to say that this one surprises me a little. The 29 year old is a good player but even though he has had a few decent performances of late I am sure there are many other players Harry could opt for to strengthen his strike line before resorting to moving for the nippy Welshman. He isn’t prolific and he is well known for being a disruptive influence and add to that the fact that West Ham reportedly want around £14m for the former Liverpool man and it all adds up to a move that really doesn’t make much sense. It would be more sensible to put in a bid for Dean Ashton, who may well be out with a long term injury but still has a great deal more to offer than his Hammers teammate. Do Tottenham fans think that Bellamy would be a good addition or should Redknapp look elsewhere?

I hope to god we don’t buy Bellamy, we need a striker who scores goals and he doesn’t. I agree Ashton would be more worthy of a bid but even then i wouldn’t touch him with a bargepole either, better to try for Defoe

Wel spurs have lost their two best Strikers Keane to Liverpool, and Berba to Man Utd. Bellamy has stood out at West Ham this season, he didn’t at Liverpool, because they play a different sort of football, and the standard and quality of players is slightly higher than those of West Ham (no offense, but if you asked someone to pick a team out of Liverpool or West Ham to win a cup, well i will just say i wudnt pick West Ham). So this i believe is why Bellamy stood out.
I think he would be good at Spurs, but not as good as he would be at West Ham, for the reason i have said before! Different quality teams, players, and the way the teams play. But they could spend 14mill on a better player. if thats all that Harry can attract then personally i would buy him, if its the best Spurs can get!

In the end we will finish in a position that reflects the quality of our key players, which is why we’re in the position we’re in - how many of our players are coveted by the top clubs and how many would even get on the bench at one of the top four clubs? At best Bellamy belongs in a mid table club and is unlikely to win a trophy the rest of his career. No thank you

It would seem that Spurs have been linked with every person that has kicked a ball. Before the season kicked off we were saying it’s a top 4 spot this year, now it looks like we are heading south to the Champions League. What’s going on at W.H.L. Is Harry the man we think he is I know it’s hard to work with dodgy tools. Ask yourself why are teams like Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, always up at the top, why do players beg to go there. Until we get back to the Sir Bill Nich way of play and get players like the Lion Hearted Dave M, Sir Alf, Bobby Smith who would bleed for the Cockeral, we ain’t going no way except a middle of the road club ( or a stuggling C.L. club.)

Bellamy, 14 Million Pounds.
Not worth that much.
They should try to get David Suazo.

Its a smokescreen to cover up who Spurs really want.

The way I look at it is, Arry is a Wet Spam man & always will be, so he’s going to spend £14m on Bell-end just to help the Wet Spams out in the cash department.. lol
As for you guys, when are you going to get it into your think heads, you’re not a top 4 club & never will be, no matter what you think… your last 2 managers spent goes know how much money on supposed quality players from all over the world, only to be sat in 17th, I mean all that quality & Ramos couldn’t get them to play, just goes to show how much resepect they had for your manager & now Arry’s in, they are suddenly playing better, well a little anyway.. lol
Your owners are that desperate to play in the CL that they’ll send you into the CCC like Leeds did & what FFS nearly did to us, so if I was you guys, I’d get them out beofre its too late….
