Jermain Defoe is determined to end his brief love affair with Portsmouth and be reunited with mentor Harry Redknapp at Tottenham.
While Portsmouth and Spurs remain in dispute about Defoe’s transfer value, the England striker has explained for the first time why he has placed White Hart Lane at the top of his list of career opportunities – even though other clubs like Juventus are pursuing his signature.
And has also revealed the way the Pompey hate mob have issued death threats against him as they prepare for his departure.
Defoe said:”If Portsmouth can agree an acceptable deal with Tottenham I would like the opportunity to talk to them.
“I’ve enjoyed my time immensely here, but I can’t deny that Harry Redknapp’s departure as manager hit me hard particularly because he was the primary reason why I joined Portsmouth in the first place and said so at the time.” (Sunday Mirror)
Jermain Defoe has angered many Pompey fans with his attitude following Harry Redknapp’s departure to White Hart Lane but the south coast club will not want to keep an unhappy player but they similarly won’t sell him on the cheap and the valuation of £15m has been widely reported which on the face of it is a decent price. Clearly he is a prolific managing 15 goals in 29 starts for Portsmouth although notably has only managed 2 in 11 since Harry left. Spurs could clearly do with a striker but is Defoe the man for the job? What do the fans think?

faisal even if you had not told us you follow the woolwich nomads .We would have guessed by the poor English you managed to string together .God invented teams like Ar5enal so the planets dregs, perverts ,drunks ,junkies and other assorted scumbags had a team to follow. To say you are a waste of skin and an oxygen thief goes some way to show my contempt for you and your type of gutter crawler, hope you take the time to reflect on your sad life and do something about it .That is if you can read of course perhaps one of your knuckle dragging relatives could help you.

its great to have defoe back.he is now a much better player than was sold to portsmouth.harry did fine job then and will again with defoe.only 3 or 4 more players to come in and we can judge harry properly.sure he will come up trumps.

best football ive seen all season from burnley.no wonder their victims in the cup were fulham, chelsea and arsenal.we were nearly their 4th london victim.harry came up trumps again.ohara for the poor bentley and a ruck at the players.dawson has improved greatly, and is much quicker to the ball.modric is great.he has vision and coolness.with defoe i think campbell will be the loser.he would be better to stick to spurs and get some games ,then return to united and wait years for his chance.jj i think is finished at spurs.4 years of fans waiting for him to be consistent.no improvement, unlike dawson, ekotto and zokora.maybe his belief in himself will come true elsewhere.

‘pool fan in peace, brilliant signing for you. If bent finds form again n campbell keeps improving you’re gona have a real headache when deciding forwards, wish we’d have signed defoe instead of keane lol, all you need now is some power n midfield n good cover at centre half, probz a left winger n all, you should go for kranjcar

david bentley the player with the big ego.played out of position.ball watched as player went past him.made no attempt to go after him.big match player.aaron lennon vastly improved player under arry.end product poor.goals in season if he reached 5 ,it would be great.cant lift a ball from the corner flag, but can put a ball over the crossbar when takeing a shot.you figure it out.jamie ohara sometimes ordinary sometimes brilliant.turned the burnley game from defeat to victory.always gives100%.solution jamie left midfield.lennon maybe more to come,we hope so ,hes still young.david should be sold.he will not get lennons position.maybe somewhere else.he has a ability ,but at spurs there is no place or time for him to prove it.

interesting comment arry made before burnley game.”this is my strongest side”it did not include jj.yesterday someone wrote if appiah signs its goodbye to zokora.he cant pass, cant shoot.its true he cant hit barn door from inside the barn.his passing only with with the odd ball.is now excellent.he can play anywhere in defence and give good game.i think hes one of the most important players for spurs with high workrate and strong tackler.any team that would sell such a player would be in urgent need of mental treatment.
