This source suggests that the north London club is very keen indeed on this Croat star!
ARSENE WENGER is ready to rekindle his interest in Portsmouth’s Niko Kranjcar.
Arsenal boss Wenger is desperate to land two midfielders in this month’s transfer window and has targeted the £10million-rated Croatian, who he tried to sign last summer.
He has already made moves to bring Mikel Arteta in from Everton for £12m — as revealed by SunSport last week. Pompey insist they do not want to sell any of their top players.
But the mood among the squad on the south coast is terrible and with Jermain Defoe set to follow Lassana Diarra out of the exit door, more top stars are likely to go over the next few weeks.
Kranjcar, 24, would jump at the chance to join Wenger at the Emirates, although the French boss has been told he has to be careful spending his transfer kitty. (The Sun)
Wenger has been sniffing around Kranjcar for a while now, even before Harry left the club and as I have said before, I feel the Croatian is an Arsenal style player who would fit in well at the club. However this source’s valuation of the former Hajduk Split man is significantly lower than the £14m price banded about elsewhere. The Playmaker hasn’t been in great form this term but he has shown his ability whilst on international duty and was instrumental in Pompey’s excellent season last term. Do Gunners fans think that Niko would be a good addition to the Emirates squad or is he not a significant improvement on what already exists at the club?
