Will Tottenham swoop for Liverpool striker in time?

Are the Reds about to leave themselves short in the striker department? Although Fernando Torres hit a brace against Chelsea, the Spaniard has been injured for enough of the season not to take him for granted between now and the end of the campaign. Nevertheless, it appears as though Liverpool are prepared to cut their losses for a player who cost upwards of £20 million in the summer.

The Independent reports that Robbie Keane has entered talks with Tottenham as the Irishman bids to end a very short-lived Anfield career. Many people think that the forward simply hasn’t had the opportunity to show Pool fans what he’s all about, especially with Rafael Benitez either hauling him off on the hour mark or not even picking him in the first place.

“We’ve allowed Robbie to talk to Spurs but we’ve not yet finalised a deal with them for the player,” said a Reds spokesman.

Who would have thought that Keane and Defoe might be lining up together for Tottenham this season? When Keane left for Liverpool, most Reds fans seemed to think it was a decent bit of business and that the Irishman might provide the firepower required for the Reds to sustain a title challenge. While this has been achieved with Keane only playing a bit-part for the 2nd-placed team in the Premier League, most Spurs fans will surely be welcoming him back to White Hart Lane if the deal goes through in time?
