While he’s only started nine games this season for former coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, this outspoken striker is once again talking a big game with a new manager in the house. Will his mouth and past brilliance get him another shot with the starting XI? He’s hoping so.
Didier Drogba, considered by many to be one of the most lethal finishers in the Premier League, has been nothing more than a blip on the radar this season. After having a falling out with Scolari early on, things just continued to spiral down from there. Much of this season has been spent sitting on the bench, as well as not featuring in matches. But Drogba is ready to push aside those memories and help the club out.
‘I hope I will get back to my best before the end of the season. I have been off the pitch for about five months. I hope now to show that I deserve to play, because for me it is important.
‘Now we have to look forward because we have big games coming and we have to concentrate on them.
‘In football anything can happen. We want to see how far we can go. What we can achieve. I think we showed [against Watford] we want to get to another FA Cup Final.’ (Daily Mail)
What do Chelsea supporters think? Are you ready to welcome Drogba back into the starting XI?
