This hasn’t been the best of seasons for Newcastle United. From the rift with ownership, to Keegan’s departure, and Kinnear’s health woes, it’s safe to say that things can’t get worse for the Tyneside club. While the tunnel has been dark, there does appear to be light at the end, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
Newcastle’s caretaker manager, Chris Hughton, announced that three of Newcastle’s most critical players are about to return when the club needs them the most.
“Oba Martins, Alan Smith and Mark Viduka will all be fit to make an impact in the run-in and that’s a good boost for us,” said caretaker manager Chris Hughton. “It’s very important to have them back in the frame. It’s immensely beneficial to us — they could be very important for us in the coming weeks.” (The Guardian)
This is exactly what Newcastle supporters wanted to hear! It hasn’t been easy, but sitting only five points clear of the relegation line, this isn’t time to get down and call the season a wash. Martins and Viduka should give the club a much needed boost in the arm at the striker position — something they’ve been lacking in at the moment.
What do Newcastle supporters think about the news? Will all three players make a difference during the most important stretch of the campaign?
