This is threatening to become the fourth season that Arsenal will win the square root of jack all, with the Gunners practically out of the title race, while it’s a tall order to see them winning the Champions League with so many quality teams involved. Is the FA Cup their best chance of silverware and would this trophy alone be enough to keep some star talent at the Emirates?

Emmanuel Adebayor flirted heavily with the possibility of leaving Arsenal last summer, with supporters taking several games to warm to the Togolese striker this term after the overtures he seemingly made to Milan. Sky Sports reports that the forward is all too aware that the supporters have been starved of success over the past few seasons, although the chances are that they’ll be potless again come May.

“I know having scored 30 goals in a season that people will always be waiting for more this season but the most important thing is to keep on going and to progress.

“I have 12 already but to score another 18 now would not be easy.

“But I don’t care if I stop on 12 goals if we win something with the club.

“To win trophies is more important than scoring goals but if we are to win trophies I will need to score some goals.

“This club needs trophies and that’s what we are fighting for.”

Hate to break it to you Emmanuel, but if you’d found the onion bag a bit more regularly this season, Arsenal could be in a position to challenge for the Premier League title. Instead the Gunners are far from certain of landing a place in next season’s Champions League, something which could see the likes of Fabregas, Van Persie and Adebayor leave the club.
