‘Arsenal need trophies’ claims striker: Will there be a mass exodus in the summer?
by stresster on February 18th, 2009 308 words | 10 commentsThis is threatening to become the fourth season that Arsenal will win the square root of jack all, with the Gunners practically out of the title race, while it’s a tall order to see them winning the Champions League with so many quality teams involved. Is the FA Cup their best chance of silverware and would this trophy alone be enough to keep some star talent at the Emirates?
Emmanuel Adebayor flirted heavily with the possibility of leaving Arsenal last summer, with supporters taking several games to warm to the Togolese striker this term after the overtures he seemingly made to Milan. Sky Sports reports that the forward is all too aware that the supporters have been starved of success over the past few seasons, although the chances are that they’ll be potless again come May.
“I know having scored 30 goals in a season that people will always be waiting for more this season but the most important thing is to keep on going and to progress.
“I have 12 already but to score another 18 now would not be easy.
“But I don’t care if I stop on 12 goals if we win something with the club.
“To win trophies is more important than scoring goals but if we are to win trophies I will need to score some goals.
“This club needs trophies and that’s what we are fighting for.”
Hate to break it to you Emmanuel, but if you’d found the onion bag a bit more regularly this season, Arsenal could be in a position to challenge for the Premier League title. Instead the Gunners are far from certain of landing a place in next season’s Champions League, something which could see the likes of Fabregas, Van Persie and Adebayor leave the club. Are supporters concerned about this possibility?

There will not be mass exodus, they have contracts but if they want to go and the offer for them is good enough, let them go. Ade won’t take much replacing and whilst Fab is world class, we’ii get by.

Don’t mind at all if you be the first to go Ade. You’re ball control and finishing hopeless.

look at Milan, they are in the EUFA cup but noone left, not even Dida. Juventus went to Serie B and the best players, with the club interst at heart remained and straight after the relegation they came back. So if players want to leave to win trophies let them do so. Who is supposed to win them trpohies? afterall they are the ones who earn megabucks for doing nothing. Who is to blame. Whoever wants to leave let them bugger off. Adebayor is one of the worst strikers I have ever seen, one who can’t control the ball. How does he expect to score. Afterall he didn”t deserve to win the African Footballer of the year.

it could be the best thing that ever happened to arsenal.
wenger can always find rich new talent, if ade and fabregas were to go they would go 4 about 50m for the pair, with that wenger can only improve the squad further with his cheap buys that no on else sees that turn out to be world class signings.
to be frank i think adebayor has been pathetic this season, he doesnt have the same spark as he did last season so if barca or whoever wants to come n spend silly money on him let them do so , their the ones getting mugged off.
also as much as i would hate to see fabregas go, he could be replaced. people forget we have been unbeaten in the league since he got injured, so we can cope without him although our goal tally has been poor with out his services, he is undoubtedly the composer of arsenals movement and chances
also i dont believe van persie will go for 1 second, he loves arsenal. hes been there longer than anyone else except toure, i think he will end his career at arsenal like bergkamp did.
i think we will win a trophy this season we r certainly capable n i recon we can jus scrape a champions league spot too.
if wenger can keep this squad together he can take them far in the near future i know it, the players have to know it too though and stick together for it all to work
