David Moyes has his eye on a number of potential transfer targets this summer, but this player probably tops the list in terms of importance. He even took time out of his busy schedule to watch him in a recent match! The striker definitely made the trip worthwhile for the Everton manager .
Everton are expected to renew their efforts to sign Vágner Love in the summer. David Moyes was at Villa Park on Wednesday and saw the Brazil striker score the opening goal in CSKA Moscow’s 1-1 draw with Aston Villa in the Uefa Cup.
A deal to sign Vágner Love, 24, on a year-long loan with a view to a permanent £13 million move fell through last summer, but Moyes, the Everton manager, will be hopeful of getting his man second time around, even if the player claimed yesterday that he is happy in Russia. (The Times Online)
Love was a massive Everton transfer target last season. Like Arashavin and Zenit, Love and CSKA won’t be an easy sell. For one, Love has been pretty non-committal about playing in the Premier League, and that could be the biggest hurdle. But aside from that, dealing with CSKA could also be an issue. Everyone saw the effort Man City put into getting Jo to the Eastlands, so it makes you wonder if Everton are prepared to put in that much time for one player.
Love is special, though. His goal against Aston Villa was pure class, and Moyes saw the whole thing from the stands. He made the trip to watch the two clubs play and most likely came away even more impressed with his skills.
What do Everton supporters make of Love? Is he worth the time and funds it would take to bring him to the club?
