‘Liverpool player should leave in the summer’ claims former manager: Do Reds supporters want him to stay?
by stresster on February 24th, 2009 6 commentsThere is sure to be a re-shuffling of players at Anfield this summer. Once again, Liverpool have fallen short in the Premier League, with Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City effectively signalling the end of any title challenge. But should they keep hold of this player and give him more first-team action, or is he simply not good enough for the Merseyside club?
Daniel Agger is the subject of yet another news item, with the Danish defender considering his future after falling behind Martin Skrtel in the central defensive pecking order. Setanta reports that he’s being encouraged to jump ship and find first-team football elsewhere by former manager Michael Laudrup.
“I hope Daniel can come to a club where he can play regularly,” he informed BT.
“First and foremost, for himself, but also for the national team, which very much needs Daniel to play.
“Daniel has ended up an in annoying situation. But the competition in clubs of that level is fierce.”
At the age of 24, it’s essential for the Liverpool defender to be getting regular football, although Rafael Benitez doesn’t seem to have much faith in the Dane this season. Even when Skrtel was injured early in the season, Sami Hyppia featured in addition to Agger, do Reds fans want to keep this talented player or should someone else be brought in?

No one is bigger than the club and team. Agger has no right to presume automatic start. If he wants that, try a team like Everton or maybe Stoke. I say if he wants to go, then go. Rafa to go? Well, that’s a different matter. Who do you have in mind as replacement, Rock of Anfield?
Agree with Redman, Parry and the yanks should call it quits.

it would be a bit silly to let a player leave who you’ve improved in the last 2 or 3 seasons. he should be offered a new contract and if he doesn’t take it then that’s his decision. but he needs to understand at a club like liverpool you have to earn your position you don’t just talk your way into the team, once he realises that it wil make it easier for both the club and agger.

I think agger should stay coz he is our future defender. Lucas and Dossena should leave coz Im got crazy when they played.
