Although Pool achieved a fabulous 1-0 win at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night, Rafael Benitez has been dealt a hammer blow, with this player set for another spell on the sidelines.
It’s been a frustrating season for Fernando Torres, whose season has frequently been interrupted by injuries, something which has had a damaging impact on Liverpool’s season. With the Reds set to play two league games over the next few days, Sky Sports reports that the Spaniard is nailed-on to miss these matches and maybe a few more.
The Liverpool boss said: “With Torres, we don’t know. Probably, he will miss some games.
“We have one game in three days’ time (at Middlesbrough) so it will be difficult for him to be ready.”
Liverpool also have a game against Sunderland on Wednesday, so the Black Cats will be delighted if the player that won the match for the Reds at the Stadium of Light is missing in action. Reds supporters must be pretty annoyed that arguably their best player keeps getting injured, although at least Steven Gerrard is likely to return after being sidelined.
