Chelsea supporters are going to be on the edge of their seat tomorrow afternoon, and it won’t be for a good reason. Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari announced that keeper Peter Cech will miss the weekend match against Hull City, and that Hilario will be in net. This should be fun! [Read the rest of this entry »]

Well the transfer deadline has come and passed and what you’re looking at right now is the team you’ll be finishing the season with. Scary or not, it’s time to believe in the starting XI (even if you don’t really want to). For some clubs, this is the time of the year when the sweet smell of European football comes calling; for others, this is the time of the season where the thought of a relegation battle starts to settle in.
We want to know based on the current squad where your club will finish the season. Do you have the horses for a top four finish, or are you already preparing for trips to West Bridgford and South Norwood next season?

Sky Sports is turning live Premier League football into a regular monopoly after they were able to secure the rights to five of the six live packages starting next season. That’s one more than they previously had, meaning Setanta will no longer be hosting the Monday evening match as they have this season and in the past. [Read the rest of this entry »]
Former Liverpool striker Robbie Keane is back at Tottenham, and today he spoke to the media about his shock move back to White Hart Lane. Whilst he’s glad to be back where everybody knows his name, he’s wondering if the supporters will welcome him with open arms. [Read the rest of this entry »]
Fernando Torres has the speed and the quickness of an italian greyhound, couple with the smarts of a german shepherd. So that’s why he’s doing this commercial for a dog training school! [Read the rest of this entry »]
Roque Santa Cruz could well be going down with the Blackburn ship this season, but he wants those of you who thought he was would jump ship to Manchester City to know that he’s a loyal member of the club. [Read the rest of this entry »]
Rafa Benitez has a dilemma on his hands. With Steven Gerrard nursing an injury, Robbie Keane gone, and Fernando Torres getting knocked around as the one and only striker, the goateed-one has an increasing problem on his hands. There’s no doubt Benitez’s squad is thinner than a sheet or plastic wrap, and no matter how resilient that plastic wrap is, there comes a time when too much pressure and pulling causes the plastic to break.
For now the wrap is still intact, but things could be changing without Gerrard. For so long Benitez has kept his youth players under a blanket, only releasing them when he absolutely needs them, and never in games of extreme importance. That is until now.
With Liverpool only two points behind Manchester United, the time has come for Benitez to break the reigns on his prized pupils and let them free for what could be the biggest stretch of games all season. One loss to Portsmouth or Manchester City could spell doom at the most critical juncture of the season.
Daniel Pachecho, Jay Spearing and Emiliano Insua represent the future of the club. All three have played with the first team before, so they should be more than prepared to handle the grueling stretch of games. Plus, Rafa needs them more than ever.
What do Liverpool supporters think? Should the club take the risk of playing the youngsters in this critical stretch, or should they try and go the road alone with the usual starting XI (sans Gerrard).

Aston Villa may have issues with Arsenal’s transfer ordeal on the final day of the window, but as far as Arsene Wenger is concerned, he has nothing to hide when it comes to Andrei Arshavin moving to the London club. [Read the rest of this entry »]
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez and the “dynamic” ownership duo of George Gillett and Tom Hicks still remain at loggerheads over the Spaniard’s new contract. Most agree that the deal hinges on Rafa’s ability to gain more control of the day-to-day operations at the club, as well as control of the youth academy — all things he needs to have a successful club.
But even though things don’t look promising at the moment, midfielder Xabi Alonso believes the two sides will find a way to agree on their difference before the contract runs out in a year. [Read the rest of this entry »]
After Steven Gerrard limped off injured after just twelve minutes of play at Goodison Park, many were quick to remark that Robbie Keane could have been an ideal replacement for the Liverpool captain. However, even if the Irishman had been on the bench for the Reds, it’s entirely likely that Yossi Benayoun would still have been selected to come on instead. [Read the rest of this entry »]
The Red Devils are officially the best club in the world after winning the Club World Cup last December. Although it was a relative walk in the park for United, it means that they are on for a possible quintuple this season, with a triumph in the Premier League and Carling Cup looking pretty likely. However, Sir Alex Ferguson reckons it will be a tall order to land the Champions League and FA Cup too. [Read the rest of this entry »]
While the Pompey board have made all the right noises about backing Tony Adams, it’s almost inconceivable that they haven’t considered alternatives to the rookie manager. After all, the team are without a win since November and the former Wycombe gaffer seems clueless how to stop the current run of defeats which is threatening their Premier League status. After brushing past Doncaster Rovers in the Fa Cup last night to set up a last 16 trip to Everton, people are starting to wonder whether Aston Villa can go all the way in this years’ competition.
Goals from Steve Sidwell, John Carew and Nathan Delfouneso ensured victory over the Championship side. As a result the football odds now have them down as the fourth favourites to win the whole thing. [Read the rest of this entry »]
It’s still pretty tough trying to call the three teams that will be relegated this season. West Brom have really pulled their socks up recently, while Stoke’s solid home form means that they are definitely not cannon fodder. Then we have the trio of north-east clubs residing near the foot of the table, although there’s one team who are surely just in a false position aren’t they? [Read the rest of this entry »]
