After the transfer deadline: Where will Arsenal finish the season?

by offsidetrap on February 5th, 2009 10 comments

Well the transfer deadline has come and passed and what you’re looking at right now is the team you’ll be finishing the season with. Scary or not, it’s time to believe in the starting XI (even if you don’t really want to). For some clubs, this is the time of the year when the sweet smell of European football comes calling; for others, this is the time of the season where the thought of a relegation battle starts to settle in.

We want to know based on the current squad where your club will finish the season. Do you have the horses for a top four finish, or are you already preparing for trips to West Bridgford and South Norwood next season?

Let us know in the comment box below.

Everton supporters: What do you have to say about your ‘small club’ dropping Liverpool from the FA Cup?

by offsidetrap on February 5th, 2009 30 comments

Rafa Benitez claimed Everton were a small club, and on Wednesday night he got to see just how small that club really was, as the Toffees dropped Liverpool out of the FA Cup with a goal from teenage substitute, Dan Gosling, in the 118th minute of extra-time. [Read the rest of this entry »]

West Ham speaking to former Chelsea midfielder: Another shrewd Zola signing?

by stresster on February 4th, 2009 2 comments

The Hammers aren’t blessed with cash at the moment, although Gianfranco Zola has still managed to get them playing some great football. A goalless draw at the Emirates Stadium extended their unbeaten run to eight matches, and it appears as though a new yet familiar face could be in the West Ham ranks over the next few weeks. Manchester City miss out on Arsenal striker: Not exactly on a par with Kaka!

by stresster on February 4th, 2009 3 comments

Anyone with a quarter of a brain can see that Mark Hughes needs a target man at Eastlands. Yes, the likes of Robinho, Ireland and SWP are all dangerous at home when Manchester City have lots of possession and keep the ball on the deck, although their poor away form is partly down to not having someone who can hold the ball up and bring others into play. It seems this is set to continue for the rest of the season after missing out on this Gunners forward. [Read the rest of this entry »]

Did Liverpool manager ‘fall into psychological hole’ as Manchester United player claims?

by stresster on February 4th, 2009 5 comments

Some people described it as a ‘mad rant’, while others were less kind with their verdict on Rafael Benitez’s outburst in front of the media a few weeks ago. The Liverpool manager clearly had to get something off his chest as he verbally tore into Sir Alex Ferguson, claiming that his opposite number was untouchable when it came to being disciplined. Chelsea need to ‘win every game’ according to goalkeeper: They’ve failed to win ten already this term

by stresster on February 4th, 2009 1 comment

After a 2-0 defeat at Anfield on Sunday, the Blues remain five points off the Premier League pace, having played a game more. Quite simply, they don’t look good enough to win the title this season, especially as they have dropped points in no less than ten league matches already this season. [Read the rest of this entry »]

Will this Chelsea striker finally leave in the summer? It would be no great surprise!

by stresster on February 4th, 2009 2 comments

Ricardo Quaresma has arrived at Chelsea on loan until the end of the season, with Phil Scolari hoping that the Portuguese winger can revive the Blues’ flagging season. There’s little doubt that the 25-year-old has the potential to become a star at Stamford Bridge, and it’s possible that the deal could become permanent in the summer, with a certain striker moving the other way. Everton striker ‘thrown out of training’ after swearing at the manager

by stresster on February 4th, 2009 7 comments

Not the news that Toffees supporters want to be reading on the eve of this season’s fourth Merseyside derby. It appears that David Moyes and one of his Everton forwards have had a training ground bust-up which could well mean this player doesn’t feature against the Reds on Wednesday evening. by stresster on February 4th, 2009 3 comments

The Red Devils are sure to have several players featuring in the ‘Team of the Year’ that’s compiled at the end of the season, although will one of them also pick up the best player award. by stresster on February 4th, 2009 8 comments

Harry Redknapp reckons that new signing Robbie Keane was never given a fair crack of the whip at Anfield, with the Irishman making just sixteen league starts for the Reds. However, the Liverpool manager has hit back, claiming that the striker simply couldn’t cope with playing for such a big club like Liverpool. [Read the rest of this entry »]

Tottenham and Arsenal supporters: Was Andrei Arshavin or Robbie Keane the bigger final day transfer shock?

by offsidetrap on February 4th, 2009 14 comments

One’s putting on a new shirt in a totally different language; the other is slipping back into the same kit he wore less than a year ago. Whilst Robbie Keane and Andrei Arshavin don’t have anything in common, both were considered to be the biggest transfer signings of the January window. [Read the rest of this entry »]

Liverpool’s sale of Robbie Keane begs the question: Does the club need a second strike option?

by offsidetrap on February 4th, 2009 20 comments

As you were, Liverpool. The who ordeal of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole is over with. Robbie Keane has officially left the building.

Whether many want to admit it or not, Robbie Keane just wasn’t the answer; and based on his form right from the start, he was never going to be the white knight Liverpool supporters were hoping for. The dream is over; it’s time to move on. [Read the rest of this entry »]
