While there’s plenty of tabloid tittle-tattle to treat with a pinch of salt on a daily basis, this is a transfer rumour which should be taken a tad more seriously. Especially as there are some words from the horse’s mouth which suggests that Manchester United are seriously interested in this player.
The Independent reports that Franck Ribery could be packing up his belongings and bidding Bayern Munich a fond farewell in the summer, with the Red Devils lining the Frenchman up as a replacement to Cristiano Ronaldo. There’s a common consensus that the current United number seven is going to Real Madrid, although the European champions could have another star talent in his place.
But now agent Alain Migliaccio claims he is aware of interest from United boss Sir Alex Ferguson should Ronaldo leave Old Trafford.
“If Manchester United sell Cristiano Ronaldo, Sir Alex Ferguson would like to cover that transfer with Ribery’s signature,” Migliaccio told Bild.
Manchester United fans, do you like the sound of this transfer? At least Ribery might look interested during every match, while the winger has a much better work ethic than the petulant Ronaldo. While he’s getting a little long in the tooth, it would certainly be a treat seeing him line up alongside Rooney and Berbatov, although will the Portuguese winger be a big loss?
