Aston Villa’s form at home has been a reason for concern as they move closer and closer to clinching the final Champions League spot. Whilst they do have a three point cushion over Arsenal, their play of late in the Uefa Cup and in the league has been very questionable to the point that it appears Martin O’Neill’s club could be unraveling at the seams. But don’t tell that to this Villa midfielder!

He believes the club should forget about Arsenal and chase Liverpool!

“That is the aim, rather than thinking about Arsenal. You’ve always got to think like that, no matter who you are. We are still in there.

“Some of the the results [elsewhere] keep giving us chances. The players, the manager, the fans, everyone at the club realises you’ve got to try and take it while it is there this season. We are right in there still.” (The Times)

Looking ahead is always a good thing, but wouldn’t it be smart to consider what’s in your rearview mirror? After all, Arsenal are set to get a massive boost in their form with Theo Walcott, Eduardo and Cesc Fabregas all set to return by the end of the month. One would think Villa would be a bit more cautious when talking about their fifth place opponent!
