Apparently Harry Redknapp should expect a call from a Champions League chasing side in the summer!
MARTIN O’NEILL will end David Bentley’s Spurs hell and take him to Aston Villa in the summer.
The Tottenham winger has endured a torrid time since his £15million move from Blackburn last year.
And his miserable season continued with a missed penalty in Spurs’ Carling Cup final shootout defeat to Manchester United last weekend.
Fans jeered when his name was announced before the midweek victory over Middlesbrough as boss Harry Redknapp kept him on the bench.
The ex-Arsenal man was left out of the starting line-up again yesterday and accepts he no longer has a future at White Hart Lane. Bentley (would relish a move to Villa, especially with the Midlanders looking good for a Champions League place next term. (News of the World)
David Bentley’s time at WHL has been a troubled one and under Redknapp he has found times even tougher and it may well be good for all concerned if he does leave but will the club get anything like the fee they paid for the former Arsenal man back from Aston Villa, i think not. The talk is that the north London outfit would settle for a fee in the region of £9m for the England international who apparently would be happy with a move to the midlands club. The Tottenham fans have never really seen the big money signing perform at a consistently high level and his sole parting memory for the fans would of course be that sublime goal at the Emirates but will the supporters miss the 24 year old or has he proved an expensive failure?
