Liverpool PREPARED for £8m bid for FRUSTRATED Star!
by Mr Comfort on March 11th, 2009 196 words | 35 commentsOnce again these Italian giants make their interest in this Anfield man well known.
Liverpool defender Dan Agger remains on AC Milan’s shopping list.
Milan transfers chief Ariedo Braida is actively seeking a young centre-half signing for the summer market and has Agger on his shortlist, says Corriere dello Sport.
Agger has admitted frustration over the lack of new contract talks at Liverpool this season. (tribalfootball.com)
It seems talk about a potential move for the Dane to Serie A won’t go away. AC Milan are looking desperately to replace their aging backline this summer and Carlo Ancelotti is said to be a huge fan of the former Brondby man who apparently may be swayed into leaving the club if his contract situation isn’t sorted. Clearly £8m rated Agger wants to stay at Anfield and has continually pledged his loyalty to the club but will that stop the Italians from pushing for the cenre back, the answer is obviously no! Do Liverpool fans think that Daniel can cement his place in the centre back pairing or is the combination of Skrtel and Carragher just to good to break up?

Who cares about Agger.. lets be honest before Agger came to Liverpool had we heard of him, Rafa discovered him, and if he could manage to stay fit there wouldn’t be a problem.
So forget him….

Sack Rafa and then what? Goons!

In my view, a pairing of Skrtel and Agger as our two main centrebacks seems a natural progression. Look at the goal attempt by the Sunderland striker (I’ve forgotten his name for the minute)? He actually roasted Carragher.
For me, Carragher is solid at the back, but lacks pace and can only get slower the older he gets.
Skrtel and Agger are the future for years to come…..
9torres - March 12th, 2009 at 8:46 am
There is no question for me that Agger is a great defender, my only question is over his fitness. He is saying he doesn’t get a game but from the looks of it he’s never fit enough to play! if we did sell him we would need a very good replacement, someone who is a ball playing centre half like Raul Albiol, and not Turner or Haangeland.
Thedias Kasaira - March 12th, 2009 at 8:53 am
Agger should stay and fight for his jessey. If he goes am sure he can easly be replaced. Rafa is the man to liverpool forward provided ther is money to bring in one two quality players.
9torres - March 12th, 2009 at 8:57 am
i don’t think there is any point in discussing possible transfers until we find out what’s going on with the ownership. We could be looking at trying to improve squad players over the summer, or we could make some really exciting signings… hopefully the ownership change will happen come the end of May rather than dragging on through to the middle of the transfer window and ruin our chances of making any quality signings like Man City’s did.

No it wasn’t, it was a great result, fantastic attacking football, etc, etc, etc, but for me it’s all about the league, I would love to see us winning the CL again but I just want the league, end of story.
And if you care to read any of my posts you would understand my comments and the reasons for them, but instead you decide to call me a dick head without any foundation, nice one, charming, gutter talk, you plank.
And yes, I would keep Agger, there are plenty of other players I would consider letting go before Agger. Agger is one of the more natural footballing defenders we have.
Sack Rafa and then what? Goons! – Ok, so how much longer would you keep Raffa in charge, another 5 years???????????????

Best side of liverpool we have right now will be:
………Reina…….
Carra….Skretel…Agger…Insua
Benoyun…Mascherano…Alonso…Babel
…………Gerrad…………
……….Torres…………
Best sub: Kyut, Reira,Aurelio,Ngog,Lucas, Spearing, Arbeloa
Carra is best at mid but among the player we had he’ll be best right back, we need right back in our team like micon of intre milan
This is offensive formation, in defensive formation mascherano sud play just infornt of backies and gerrad at mid…torres alone in front….rafa will think and play his best side always and get 4-0 at ManU and 20th league title and first premier league title be ours…that will be best day of my life….praying god to make that day in this year…

I guess you would also have to put me there too, right alongside Steve McMahon, for like Steve i would agree that 4-0 against Real was a great result and yes we played fantastic attacking football, So why can’t we do this in the Premier League, unless we are chasing a Champions League stop towards the end of the season???…….. The anwser is quite simple, Rafa does give a F**k about the Premier League, Only that he needs to be in at least 4th place or better to have another crack at his favourite cup……….. I would sack him come the end of the season, and get in someone who will try to win us both and not just the Champions League…….. I’ll say it again.. We will never win the Premier League with Rafa in charge. Full stop…
9torres - March 12th, 2009 at 11:36 am
Think about it though, bringing someone else in who supposedly “wants to win the EPL more” would have not effect on how good the players at the club are! Rafa is doing better than anyone could with limited resources. We are competing better than anyone else with such a limited budget! Arsenal have similar spening power to us and look how they are doing.
We also have a great youth and reserve team like arsenal.
We can’t afford to buy like Manu, Chelsea, Real, Barca, Inter, Juve etc, yet we still compete year in year out.
Rafa was brought in to improve the club under a very limited budget and has done exceptionally well, getting closer every year and delivering the FA Cup and CL along with another final and a Super Cup win and pleanty of semi-finals as a bonus.
Give Rafa the money to buy the players he really wants and we will see the league. To improve against united and chelsea don’t forget that we are improving more than them each year, how can that be bad?!
mark - March 12th, 2009 at 12:06 pm
9torres you are right, rafa has done a great job negative fans like steve and donavon try to shade that but they can’t. we are getting closer to the league and we also seem guaranteed a place in the semi finals at least every year in the champions league, what’s not to be happy about. steve also about your tactics moan, if we had players like messi ronaldo aguero etc then sure we’d play an attacking style of football but he plays to his players strengths what’s so bad about that. would you prefer rafa to play mash behind the strikers with agger and skrtel at the back, torres, kuyt,n’gog upfront gerrard playing behind them riera standing on the goal line actually are you sure you want a goalie afterall it maybe a bit too defensive…. honestly. and what you said’so how much longer would you keep Raffa in charge, another 5 years?’ that’s exactly what we should do, finally you seem to be getting the point. and finally to donavon- if we sack rafa there will be no manager riding in on a white horse ready to be our knight in shining armour. getting mourinho you think would be fantastic but as soon as he’s told that he has no money unless he sells players he’d throw a big strop and leave- just like he did at chelsea after he found out roman wouldn’t be buying him every player he asked for anymore. hopefully rafa will still be here for years to come and when we’re celebrating league success you will have a rather large amount of egg across your face.

MAN UTD HAVE VIDIC AND FERDINAND WHO BOTH SCORE GOALS, CHELSEA HAVE TERRY AND CARVALHO AND THAT IS WHY BOTH THESE TEAMS HAVE WON THE LEAGUE.
SO KEEP AGGER AND BENCH SKRTEL

Firstly whoever is with agger leaving liverpool are mad…he wil be the perfect replacement for carragher…think abt his bloodly gettin old but is still one of the best centre halfs in the premier ship! So keep agger selll dossena we got too much competition for left back..and for the right back position we need some to give competition to arbeloa..his really gud but still need support masch cant be supporting him all the time..his our defensive mid! and we deffently need another right winger… if not…bring in another fucking striker…bring in nemeth..give him a chance for GOD SAKE!

“rafa has done a great job negative fans like steve and donavon try to shade that but they can’t. we are getting closer to the league and we also seem guaranteed a place in the semi finals at least every year in the champions league, what’s not to be happy about.”
I will keep it short, our league form since xmas, that’s what I am not happy about, along with unexplainable decisions from Raffa.
“steve also about your tactics moan, if we had players like messi ronaldo aguero etc then sure we’d play an attacking style of football but he plays to his players strengths what’s so bad about that”
Jesus, acording to you, unless we get the above named players, then we cant play attacking football?????????????
F_ck me, you must be joking, you are telling me that for any of our drawn games we couldnt play either a plain 4 4 2 or 3 5 2 or 4 3 3 etc, etc, so Raffa looked around at the bench, didn’t see Aguero, Messi or Ronaldo sitting there, and said to himself, “well sure, what can I do, I am just going to have to settle for a draw” so that is your explaination for Raffa not putting Babel or Ngog up front with either Kuyt or Keane, or whatever it took to convert some of those draw’s into win’s, f_ck me what an excuse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“would you prefer rafa to play mash behind the strikers with agger and skrtel at the back, torres, kuyt,n’gog upfront gerrard playing behind them riera standing on the goal line actually are you sure you want a goalie afterall it maybe a bit too defensive….”
No, let’s keep it simply, pls try if you can an explain why Raffa couldn’t of done the following in any of our drawn game’s
4 4 2
Reina
Arbeloa Carra Skyrtel Insua / Aurellio
Babel Gerrard Alonso Reira
Keane Ngog / Kuyt
Or
3 4 3 when we you can see that the opposition are not even moving outside their own half,
Reina
Arbeloa Skyrtel Aurellio
El Zhar Gerrard Yossi Reira
Kuyt Babel Ngog,
or whatever, but for f_ck sake this is not a science, these systems are nothing special, they are just attacking one’s, now there is no reason in the world for these systems not to of been at least tried, now is there,? and if there is, then pls explain it.
“what you said’so how much longer would you keep Raffa in charge, another 5 years?’ that’s exactly what we should do, finally you seem to be getting the point. and finally to donavon- if we sack rafa there will be no manager riding in on a white horse ready to be our knight in shining armour.”
Great, according to you 5 more years of LFC washing their dirty linnen in public, Raffa playing “put you to sleep” type football in the EPL, we play the next 5 years with 1 striker, no matter who is available we still only play 1 striker, f~_ck me, can’t wait, this is going to be great.
“hopefully rafa will still be here for years to come and when we’re celebrating league success you will have a rather large amount of egg across your face.”
I really do hope that you are right and that those against Raffa are totally wrong, I would have no problem ending up with egg on my face if it meabt winning the EPL, but I just cant see it.
Adios……………………….

Steve McMahon, I think most of us can read. You already voiced your opinion about Rafa. As much you are entitled to your opinion, we too are entitled to ours. With all this discussion going on about Agger, I think all of us agree Agger is good and potentially great replacement for Carragher or Skrytel.
The problem is not about his quality. It’s whether he wants to stay and if he has the patience and bottle for a fight to get into the first team. I think that’s the issue. If he wants to go, there is nothing much anybody can do about it.

ironstomach i agree with you about agger, and to steve mcmahon if you haven’t noticed babel is absolutely useless….. yet you have him in both of your sides, what’s all that about? also what was intresting is that you didn’t have mash in either of your line-ups, mate he’s one of the best defensive midfielders in the world and also produces some driving runs- what’s your beef with playing defensive players. teams are set up not to conceed goals, that’s all that we are doing, yet having torres injured for most of the season we haven’t been able to knick the goals for ourselves- that’s your reason for the draws, and before you fire up just look at united they went through a period were they conceeded no goals and kept stealing 1-0 wins- that’s what rafa is going for but without a certain fernando torres it’s harder. as for your ‘we play boring football’ jibe, i think we have played some great football this season when we work the ball quickly up the field by passing and moving or am i the only one that thinks this?

Jesus, you lot are somehow still missing my whole f_cking point, christ, I will explaint it again,
Masch is one of the best players in the world as a dfm, he has agreat engine, a fantastic attitude, etc etc, etc, my f_cking point is alll about playing teams with 11 men behind the ball, for f_ck sake, wake up.
Masch for all his qualities is not worth a sh~te when it comes to attacking, creating chances, breaking down defences, etc, my whole point which you obviously failed to spot is that Raffa still plays the likes of Masch against these type of teams when it is clear he shouldn’t, hence the line up’s above.
“yet having torres injured for most of the season we haven’t been able to knick the goals for ourselves- that’s your reason for the draws,”
Muck, so you are saying Torres is out, there is nothing we can do, f_ck me you are sounding like Raffa, expand your mind a little, play 2 up front, this is not a f_cking science, we dont have anybody near the ability of Torres to fill his boots when he is out, therefore the most common sense thing to do would be to replace him with 2 strikers and loose one of the dfm e.g. Masch, (e.g. Ngog + Kuyt, or at the time (Keane + Ngog) etc, etc as you have just pointed out that we cant score when Torres is out.
But no, our leader just kept playing the same f_cking system 4 2 3 1, did he honestly expect the other strikers to do exactly the same at Torres does? the answer must be, “yes he did because he just still left 1 up front” simply madness, crazy, totally nut’s in my eye’s, but for some reason it is ok in your eye’s, resulting in 10 draw’s,
“as for your ‘we play boring football’ jibe, i think we have played some great football this season when we work the ball quickly up the field by passing and moving or am i the only one that thinks this?”
Great we moved it up the field quickly and passed it to our lone striker who was not Torres (due to injury) and who was marked out of it by at least 2 CB, and then what happened? answer, it came back down the field again to 1 of our 4 def or 1 of our 2 dfm and away we go again, great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Exciting stuff, eh.

i would say the reason liverpool don’t preform against the lesser teams in the league is due to the fans, they just don’t get behind the team from the start of these games unlike the champions league.I prefer skrtel to agger as he is a better defender but don’t think rafa should or will sell him.The media keep going on about agger not getting a game and wanting to leave (BULLSHIT) if they had any clue about football they would know he’s injured.Rafa has done a great job at liverpool if he gets the full backing of the board, owners and the fans liverpool will win the prem keep the faith we’ve got rid of parry so were on the right track .ynwa
IRONSTOMACH - March 13th, 2009 at 3:29 pm
Parry leaving may not necessary mean problems solved. You could get another unhelpful CEO in. Liverpool at the moment are really clouded with lots of boardroom issues which they need to settle.
1. Yankees owner got to let go of the club. If only they are prepared to sell it for less…sigh.
2. At the way things are, I think 10 million will buy you pretty average good players only. Torres would probably be valued at 35 mill nowadays. So his 22 mill is looking like a bargain. I think we need to have world class additions like Masch, Alonso, Torres from now on. Players like Diego or Ashley Young would fit into that kind of category.
3. I like the shape of how some of the younger players are developing. Spearing getting a game against Madrid was heartening. Insua’s developing is interesting. On that score, I think Rafa is doing a great job. Investing in the future is the right move and the Board needs to keep doing that.

Hi guys, now I like reading the thoughts of other Liverpool fans and even though the views differ when you read say Steve McMahon, 9torres, Donavan Reid etc the one thing is clear and that is our love of LFC, I can understand why some want Rafa gone and why others including me want him to stay, why some want Agger to stay and other don’t.
Rafa does play defensive play but on Tuesday we played some of the best attacking football I have seen this year, at the start of the season we were winning games in the last few minutes and every one was saying how we were more like Man U winning in the dying moments and that is good but if we hadn’t then all those games could have been draws as well, put Real Madrid out there against Fulham, Stoke, West Brom etc and Real would have walked all over them, we should have done that, fear of playing Liverpool at Anfield used to have most of the other teams quaking in their boots, the roar of the crowd and the passion and skill of the players oh and of course we attacked, went for the goals and the win, we didn’t go out looking for the draw and if we had played attacking football like we did against Man u, Chelsea and Madrid this year we would not have 10 draws this year to our credit, had we attacked I believe we would have won at least half but lets say 4, now 10 draws equals 10 points, 4 wins equals 12 points had we won 5 then we would be 10 points higher in the league and still above Man U, which points out where we need to improve in the league, we are great at defending so keep doing that but attack as well.
Rafa needs to understand that though we are all immensely proud of the success we have had in the Champions league it’s the EPL that is the prize most of us yearn to see again, if he can not see this or improve on this year with new funds/players/owners then we should look for someone else, who I don’t know but I cheered on Liverpool with Paisley, Fagen, Dalglish, Souness, Evans, Houllier and Rafa and I will carry on regardless of who is in the dugout because if you cut me open I will bleed red.

coggin spot on at the end fella!
but to all the other in Rafa we can trust brigade…please face facts….his brand of negative football & not lose mentality is the reason we have struggled poorly against the stokes, fulhams etc this & some of his baffling line ups, tactical changes & if gerrard or torres cant get him out of jail he just hasnt got anything else in his locker. I want the league above all else & no it is not lets change it for changes sake…rafa has had five years & people need to be honest another five years of this brand of football then we will not win the one prize that has been this year more than ever dangled in front of us….his record in europe is frustratingly ace even I acknowledge that…but if Rafa stays he must change his thought mentality but the stubborn Im right attitude will never change.
As for the AGGER debate he is our most cultured defender & as I have stated earlier when he is in the team he adds a completely different dimension to our play…3-5-2 is our only option…but will rafa risk this nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
as for madrid we were superb …madrid poor…but looking at the scoreboard…& reading 4-0 is the highlight of a season despite being top & at times playing shite….again adds to the frustration rafa gives me….another five years of this…please no.

This is so simple…. sell Agger if he wants to go, he gets injured way to easily for me. Yes he’s a great player but lets be honest do you really want someone who’s always injured. Skrtl is reliable and strong and Carra, (at 31 is not the quickest ), but still does the job. Its not like we’re really stuck.

Red for Life, you there? Look at the above statement. It’s precisely one reason why I ignore him/her/shit. Obviously he’s just decided what to think and then pile up examples to simply boost his argument. I think they call that subjectivity.
Uhmmm….when we beat Man U earlier in Anfield, who took the ball up on the right and squared it for Babel to tuck in? Last Tuesday who set up for Dossena to score? Who was the one breaking up all of Real Madrid’s play? Yet he gets criticize for being ‘not worth it when it comes to attacking.’ Man…i am lost for words. After Real Madrid and Man U, I hope Agger see some sense in terms of staying in Liverpool. Hyppia is pushing on though he was immense against Man U. Agger just need to be more patient and work hard. Rafa has already come out numerous times backing him and that shows he clearly value Agger.
