CSKA Moscow coach Zico says he would not block Yuri Zhirkov from joining Chelsea in the summer.
Zhirkov, who can play anywhere down the left-hand side, has been linked with a £15million move to Stamford Bridge.
He is a key part of Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink’s plans with the Russian national team, with reports claiming the Dutchman has advised Blues owner Roman Abramovich to sign Zhirkov.
Zico believes the 25-year-old would be a success in the Premier League and would not stand in the way of a transfer to Chelsea. (Sky Sports)
Zhirkov was one of the bright sparks of Euro 2008 and after five years at CSKA it seems his time to move could be this summer. He has won Russian titles, cups and the UEFA Cup so one can understand why Zico would understand if the left sided player decided to try his luck in the Premier League. He would be a top notch signing and is better at left wing than at left back but does Roman have the cash? What i mean is, is Abramovich still looking to make big money moves given his recent financial crisis? Do Chelsea fans think Zhirkov could do well in the Premier League?
