Liverpool sure to be INTERESTED in FANTASTIC £6m LEFT BACK: Rafa is a fan!

Real Madrid will offload eight first team players at the end of the season.
A 5-0 aggregate defeat to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League has set the alarm bells ringing at the Bernabeu, and drastic action is on the cards.
Reports claim Los Blancos will get shut of Royston Drenthe, Fabio Cannavaro, Jerzy Dudek, Gabby Heinze, Michel Salgado, Rafael van der Vaart and Javier Saviola. (fansfc.com)
Yes he had a horrible game against Liverpool and yes he used to play for the arch enemy but Benitez likes Gabriel Heinze and the Argentine can still cut it at the club in my opinion. Sir Alex stood firm and didn’t allow Heinze to move to Anfield but would surely be powerless to stop Rafa from nabbing the 30 year old now. Yes Aurelio has been in good form lately and Insua is coming along nicely and then there is of course Dossena but i would rate former PSG man as better and of course he can also fill in at centre back if needed and wouldn’t cost the earth. Would Liverpool fans welcome such a move?

why must we buy heinze when we have f aurelio who is the best replacement since riise!!so marcelo will be a better option!!he is left footed and play well in the wing!!
Graham - March 16th, 2009 at 10:40 am
We have plenty of cover at LB, it’s not an area we need to look at currently. Bigger fish to fry in other area’s!!
LFC4ever - March 16th, 2009 at 10:44 am
Agreed, we don’t need him – his getting old, was terrible in eth games against us and Aurelio and insua are the future in that position.
Dossena to be used as back-up for Torres! What a finish on Saturday!
Soccer Boy - March 16th, 2009 at 10:49 am
I dont want him, he is already 30, not a good investment. Dossena has been doing good lately, plus Insua is good too.
Coggin - March 16th, 2009 at 10:52 am
Agree, Man u got rid of Heinze and last week proved it was the right decision; he was rubbish, Insua is getting better and Aurelio has made the posistion his at the moment.
Dossena 2 great goals, maybe I mis judged him and Rafa was right and he needed time?

I am a big fan of Rafa’s – and hope he is with the ‘Reds for ages, but he is living on past memories thinking of bringing in Heinze – who is just too slow now!

heinze is too old, who’s up for giving super striker dossena a life-time contract….anybody
Carrard - March 16th, 2009 at 11:04 am
We should go for Van der Vaart!!! He could play on either wing or for Gerrard if he isn’t fit…
Graham - March 16th, 2009 at 11:26 am
David Silva for me, possible fire sale at Valencia. This would mean we could get him a slightly reduced price….Would be V-Goog business in an area we need to improve on (RW).
Remy - March 16th, 2009 at 12:49 pm
nah Rafa, i dont want him…we have aurelio, inssua, dossena, and maybe agger can play at position…i know it will cost to much but we need to buy : A. Lennon right winger, and A.Young left winger.
REINA
ARBELOA, CARRAGHER, SKRTEL ( or AGGER), AURELIO
MASCHERANO ALONSO
LENNON YOUNG
GERRARD
TORRES
Ando - March 16th, 2009 at 1:53 pm
he’s still good…… but by the time liverpool get him, he’ll be just a normal player because he is now 30. liverpool should just stick with insua as he is good and very young…. he will just get better day by day while heinze getting worse
visham - March 16th, 2009 at 2:48 pm
i thinkrafa must concentrate on the wings.i dont agree with riera,he just loses balla easily.we should go for david silva or van der vaart or even sneijder.even lennon could be a good buy.
kermit - March 16th, 2009 at 3:59 pm
always knew dossena would come good and i reckon by next season its gonna be hard to p[rize the jersey for him , personally i hope insua makes it, but with aurelio there too then we dont need anyone there we need a right back to cover arbeloa as carra is just too slow to play there and gets exposed to easily,
right midfield walcott fuck it break the bank if needs be,
kun aguero also , personally i d like to see tevez move down the road from the mancs but i doubt it will happen
ndjoze - March 16th, 2009 at 4:35 pm
rafa must sign more english playres should his contract be extended. we dont want to like Arsenal who can field a foreigner’`s eleven-up
mighty reds - March 16th, 2009 at 4:52 pm
cos dossena scored two goals, u guys now think he is fantastic. though he looks like someone who will come good but he hasn’t. he was not tested defensively by ronaldo or marcelo so lets wait till he comes up against ashley young. as for heinze, NO WAY!!!!
the big i am - March 16th, 2009 at 8:47 pm
mighty reds a think they were jokin bout dossena ! !
and we dont even need a left back this is a pointless reed
Steve McMahon - March 16th, 2009 at 10:34 pm
Yo, Mr confort, it’s a right back we need not a left back, find us a right back, kill this headline and start a new one,
Ok.

Good to be back and glad to listen to all the thoughts out there. I am surprised with how Dossena has been playing for you guys. Perhaps he was bought as a supporting striker or left midfielder! Just as Kuyt was perhaps bought as a right back!!! Congratulations on the great result over Real Madrid and Man Utd (hate both of them).
On the subject matter, I agree with McMahon in some ways that one of Liverpool’s priority is shoring up the RB position. Aberloa has improved tremendously this season. Deggen looks to be too injury prone. I don’t think Liverpool can wait for him to get fit and prove himself. Kuyt might be an option but he needs to work on his crosses. On the left, I am still not completely bought over by Aurelio but to be fair, he has improved tremendously. Insua looks to have a smashing future. Perhaps Agger could be tried in that position?
On the whole, I think Liverpool needs to continue investing in academy and plan for the future. At the same time also buy big players for the present. You guys need two or three more world class who brings different qualities to the team. I am thinking proven players such as Diego (Bremen), Ashley Young (I think he is damn bloody good) and perhaps David Silva. He will cost a fortune but worth it.
