Chelsea set for £11m Winger Bid: Good deal all round?
by Mr Comfort on March 17th, 2009 1 commentYet another member of Guus Hiddink’s squad set to leave.
Juventus are ready to offer Chelsea £11 million for winger Florent Malouda.
The Sun says the Italian giants will swoop for the French international midfielder after making contact with his representatives.
Juve have targeted Malouda after Czech Republic legend Pavel Nedved, 36, announced last month he will retire at the end of this season.
A top source at the Turin club said: “We have been looking at a number of options and Malouda is very high on this list.
“Let’s see what happens at the end of the season.” (tribalfootball.com)
I think it is fair to say that Florent Malouda has been a flop. He has at times shown a glimpse of magic but on the whole he has turned in lacklustre displays that more annoying show a complete lack of heart and desire. If Claudio Ranieri’s idea is to replace Nedved with the Chelsea wideman then he will find out that this is a big mistake. If Roman is offered anything like the £11m offered then he will take it quicker than you can say “expensive yacht”! Are any of the Stamford Bridge faithful impressed by the former Lyon man?

florent is a fickly type of fellow, not the personality type to go out and make a star of himself amongst a set of superegos that the chelsea house is filled with (drogba, lampard, and ballack just the tip of the iceberg). he will have to settle for the role of solid performer doing fundamental tasks well with the occasional spell of attacking brilliance. the brilliance being the lacking attribute, he has performed admirably, yet unspectacular compared to the winger expectations left since the departure of robben (the only expectation for a lot of fans that didn’t join the fandom of chelsea before those years). florent will learn to display that brilliance with hard work, dedication, and confidence of a coach who not only believes in him short-term, but is around long enough to give him career advice.
