Good to see someone taking defeat on the chin and offering praise for their arch-rivals!
RYAN GIGGS has rubbished suggestions Liverpool are a two-man team and admitted the race for this season’s title is still very much alive.
Several commentators have argued that Liverpool rely too heavily on Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres but Giggs does not see it that way.
He said: “Liverpool are a strong team and on their day they can beat anyone – not many teams win at the Bernabeu after all.
“They have genuine world class players and where once they relied on Steven Gerrard there’s now Fernando Torres, Xabi Alonso and Jamie Carragher. There is quality all over the pitch and I don’t think there’s any doubt that this current side is stronger than previous ones.
“When they beat us at Anfield earlier this season Gerrard and Torres weren’t even playing, so they do have talent elsewhere.
“The title race is certainly not over – any little hiccup we have will give encouragement to the other teams behind us.” (liverpoolbanter.co.uk)
If there was a United player you could count on to say it as it is and to be a thoroughly decent chap then it’s Ryan Giggs. What he is quoted as saying above is spot on and it seems a million miles from Wayne Rooney’s somewhat pointless assertion that he “hates Liverpool“. I have always had a great deal of respect for Giggsy and thought of him as a professional who doesn’t get himself involved in anything unsavoury on or off the pitch and has no qualms about just speaking sense.
