The Rumour
Djibril Cisse has stunned his Sunderland team-mates by telling them: ‘I’m joining Tottenham in the summer.’
Sunderland‘s on-loan Marseille striker revealed his transfer plans on Friday after reacting angrily to being told he would not be in the starting line-up at Bolton the following day.
Unhappy at being sacrificed for a safety-first 4-5-1 formation, his mood took another turn for the worse on hearing the lone striker’s role had gone to his arch-rival Kenwyne Jones.
The pair have an intense dislike of each other, and Cisse responded to manager Ricky Sbragia’s selection by going into what was described as a ‘massive sulk’ and repeatedly claiming he was bound for White Hart Lane at the end of the season.
Marseille had tentatively agreed a fee of 10million euros with Sunderland for Cisse but are now keen to negotiate with Tottenham, whose manager Harry Redknapp has been on the look-out for more firepower.

The Analysis
This source ends it’s summary by stating that Harry Redknapp will be looking for more firepower in the summer and on the one hand looking at the Premier League table and seeing that the club has only managed 42 goals it would therefore not seem such a ludicrous decision. However on the other hand the White Hart Lane side already has four top notch international strikers, two of which he only brought in the January sales so one would imagine those two would be safe.
Darren Bent is the club’s top scorer but apparently he has not got much of a future at the club and Russian Pavyluchenko seems surplus to requirements. However will Cisse be a better bet? I don’t think so but if the Frenchman has really been bragging about the move then who am i to argue. After all he is a better buy than Kenwyne Jones who is inextricably linked to Spurs at any given opportunity.
Personally i feel a move for Djibril would be a mistake but that isn’t to say it isn’t a possibility. After all Harry Redknapp clearly knows more about a good signing than i do.

Cisse to Spurs: It makes no sense to me but could well be on the cards
