The all new rumour reporting article system is in full effect!
Manchester City boss Mark Hughes is stepping up his bid to bring former United hero Diego Forlan back to the Premier League.
Hughes and executive chairman Garry Cook watched Forlan fire Atletico Madrid into next season’s Champions League – but he wants to tempt him to return to England in the summer instead.
Forlan knows if City’s interest, with his Argentinian agent approached again after a move in the last window fell through because of the valuation on his head.
Hughes – given shock backing to carry on – wants to bring in Forlan if the price is right but will have to find around £20 million to land the Uruguayan hit man who has been prolific in Spain for Atletico and Villarreal.

Mark Hughes has come under fire from all angles in recent weeks and many have stated that they believe that the former Blackburn and Wales boss isn’t the man to take the Eastlands side to the next level, these are charges that wholly without merit in my view and it appears the clubs financial backers are in agreement and look set to bankroll a summer of big spending and this former Man United flop is now high up on their wish list.
Forlan had a nightmare at Old Trafford but has since resurrected his career in Spain by scoring goals at will at first Villarreal and then at Atletico Madrid this season where he has been in tremendous form scoring 28 goals and finding himself just behind the irrepressible Samuel Eto’o in the race for the Pichichi Trophy for the top scorer in the Spanish league.
Forlan to Man City: I think given the opportunity the Uruguayan would jump at the chance to show his Premier League doubters what he is capable of.
