Speculation on United buying a winger centres on Nani’s disappointing season and the possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo leaving for Real Madrid. There can be few players in the Premier League who showed as much of a marked improvement that Aaron Lennon last season. After 18 months of relatively poor showings on a weekly basis something clicked for the former Leeds man. It even started to click in patches under the final doomed days of Juande Ramos’s reign at White Hart Lane and once Harry Redknapp was installed as the new boss things went rapidly uphill for the speedy winger and he hasn’t looked back since.
Now firmly back in the England fold and looking more and more like the player who made full backs shudder with fear it appears that some big guns are considering making a move with Man United and Liverpool being two teams regularly linked with the 22 year old.
Sir Alex may be planning to deal with a potential loss of Ronaldo or maybe he just wants yet more talent in his hefty squad. Rafa Benitez is looking for natural width on the right where Dirk Kuyt has performed admirably this season.
