Pointless Liverpool Target Opts For £9m Arsenal Move

The Rumour
Gareth Barry is holding out for a summer move to Arsenal.
Aston Villa captain Barry is desperate to play Champions League football during the best years of his career – and the Gunners are his No.1 option.
Though Villa want him to see out the remaining year of his contract, Starsport understands he wants out now.

The Analysis
This is interesting and may well come as a source of good news for Liverpool and Arsenal fans. Gareth Barry could be more suited to joining Wenger’s side as he looks to inject some much needed experience into the side and Anfield supporters will welcome the news as it would hopefully lead to Xabi Alonso feeling that he has more of a future at the club.
Barry committed himself to another year at Villa Park after his move to Merseyside was blocked by Martin O’Neill and for some portions of the season it looked feasible that he may achieve his Champions League dream with the midlands side but the club’s season petered out as many had predicted and now it seems odds on he will leave the club as the club will not want to see the midfielder’s contract run down and face seeing him leave for nothing in the summer of 2010.

If we go by t rumours going around doesnt look like alonso’s gonna hang on for long…
rafa wants to sell him to get silva / villa / aguerro /… and t list goes on…
Barry wud be a nice buy for arsenal… he wud solidify our midfield… we should get rid of diaby,senderos,silvestre n adebayor
get vermaelen, hangeland,barry,chamakh or huntelaar…

There are many players out there that are better than Barry but they come with a big price tag, at 9m he is a good buy and would be ok at either club, we did after all spend 7m on Dossena, I hope that when the new season starts Alonso is still here or a player far far more exciting than Barry has taken his place, now if he wants to come and fight for a place I am happy with that but I don’t think he will be.

Im an arsenal fan but seriously speakin rafa needs to give a thought at selling alonso…
he’s a good player plus he’s in form… it wud be sheer stupidity on rafa’s part to get rid of him just for cash…
all liverpool need is 1 good striker n 1 good support striker (who’s ready to warm t bench n play wen called for) n they wud win atleast 1 title next season (cant say which 1 though… can be t champs league too)
sell guys like voronin, lucas etc… cuz they aint worth t hassle…n get somebody of t torres mould… albeit less hyped (so tat he wont cost a bomb) who wud be ready to support torres n score goals too…
babbel n kuyt can play 3rd n 4th strikers ready to come on wen need be..

Come on brign barry to arsenal! He would paly well with cesc! We just need one class defensive mid and I can taste the silverware. I mean denilson and diaby are good, but oyu want some one slightly better for first choice. Well we need to bring sendeross back as well. If we do get a class defensive mid, liverpool will need to buy silva in order to compete with us in the midfield next season.

Monster Masch and Alonso are so much better than Barry i think the only benefit of barry over mascherano and alonso is that he’s english.
