Chelsea are to confirm the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti after Milan’s manager of eight years left San Siro by mutual consent today following the Rossoneri’s direct qualification for the Champions League. He will take over with the captain at Stamford Bridge, John Terry, urging him to revitalise the squad he inherits by recruiting players of the calibre of Franck Ribéry and David Villa this summer.

With Carlo Ancelotti now installed as the new boss at Stamford Bridge it’s time to start guessing who he looks set to bring in. Both players mentioned by this source are top class but have been linked with a move to Chelsea previously without success but maybe with the Italian at the helm things may move forward.
David Villa has stated before that he wants to stay in Spain but that would very much depend on whether either of the top two try to sign him from Valencia. Barcelona have more than enough firepower and if they keep all the front men they are unlikely to feel the need to spend big on the Spanish international. Florentino Perez has been named President of Real Madrid for a second time as expected but of all the players he has outlined as being targeted by the Bernabeu side Villa’s name was not present whereas the likes of Kaka, Ribery and Cristiano Ronaldo were.
So could the west London side manage to snare either of these big names?
Ribery and Villa to Chelsea: Ribery is a possibility but Villa less so.
