Gareth Barry Opts for £12m Man City Move over Champions League Ambition!

Can’t say I am surprised!

Manchester City have completed the signing of England midfielder Gareth Barry from Aston Villa for £12m.
The 28-year-old was linked with a move to Liverpool last summer but ended up staying at Villa Park, helping them to a sixth-placed finish in the league.

So there you have it! Liverpool fans spared the months of misery as the Aston Villa man who wanted Champions League has decided to opt for a move to a Man City side who finished 12 points below the midlands outfit and 22 points from the coveted top four.

The one man club was always going to leave this summer after seeing his Villa side fall away after a bright start to his last campaign at the club. Not sure how his former supporters will take this news as it somewhat goes against what he spelled out last summer when he claimed he only wanted to leave the club to pursue his dream of playing in the top tier of European football. He has now joined a side who don’t even have Europa League football to compete for, still he will make a shed load of money and that may be what’s most important for the 28 year old.
