Liverpool ready for £14m Midfield Maestro Arsenal Bid

The Rumour
CESC FABREGAS reckons Arsene Wenger should make a summer swoop for Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso.
The Arsenal skipper believes his Spain teammate would slot perfectly into the Arsenal set-up as the Gunners look to build on a disappointing campaign.
Alonso has been in stellar form for Liverpool this season and despite insisting his star is staying on Merseyside, Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has had to fend off rumours linking the Spain midfielder to moves to Real Madrid and the Emirates.

The Analysis
Reports are circulating wildly that Arsenal may consider making the move that Cesc Fabregas would wish but once again today Rafa has come out and stated he doesn’t wish to sell his midfield maestro and it seems from the outside that a move to a fellow Premier League side is very unlikely however much Wenger may wish it to take place.
Real Madrid are the real threat to the Spaniard’s continued presence at Anfield. Maybe Alonso is homesick or maybe he just wants assurances that he will be first choice next term, either way his agent seems to suggest that he may well leave the club.
Liverpool fans will I am sure be keen to see Xabi stay at the club and with news that Gareth Barry is today holding talks with Man City perhaps the chances are that the Spanish international will indeed stay and ignore all the interest from his many potential suitors.
The Likelihood
Alonso to Arsenal: Won’t happen

Come on alonso you know you want to come to arsenal, especially if you can speak french.
Jam Tart - June 2nd, 2009 at 5:34 pm
Alonso should only be lost if 30 to 35 million is coughed up by some dip club, best passer in the premiere league by a mile and brings such a calming effect to the team, if essien is worth that much than so is alonso and if barry is worth 18 then dont think there can be much arguing
the sarcastic prick! - June 2nd, 2009 at 5:48 pm
jam tart – best passer in the premier league is either fabregas or carrick..fact
alonso comes close tho

Dom:
well arsene pays a player wat he’s worth… n tats wat alonso’s worth right now…
he aint any kaka or ronaldo to cost mad bucks… besides its rafa who desperately wants to sell… we hav our options..
If possible we’ll get alonso for 14 million or lesser…
u can use t money to buy some1 like robbie keane n then sell him at cut price ( somethin tat liverpool hav mastered in t past decade)…
u looserpoops dont know t value of money n hav a lot of cash to burn… t 1 precise reason y u havent won t prem for a couple of decades now…
Dom - June 2nd, 2009 at 7:23 pm
And your manager tries to haggle the price of players down. He doesn’t pay what players are worth. Alonso is 18 minimum.
You won’t get alonso, and seein as arsene peodophile wenger likes young boys, you will lack the experience to mount a serious threat.
And you will never win the champions league with such an inexperienced underpriced squad.

whew brother… u insult my club n i insult urs… its an eye for an eye…
lets get straight to t facts now…
for looserpoops to win another champs league t pope has to die, n prince charles has to re-marry…. a highly unlikely prospect considerin his age…
remember pennant??? well ur looser pedophile of a boss Rafa bought him from arsenal.. poor pennant cudnt suck up properly n hence he’s being dispensed…
n i heard rafa imports kids from spain so tat he can fuck their tender arse….
like u said we cant win t champs league… lets talk about premiership….hell u cant win t premiership… so near yet so far this season… n this season was as good as it gets for you guys…

dom:
Alonso’s 18 million… how did u measure tat now??? or did alonso himself tel u he’s worth tat much???
u make certain presumptions n then argue based on ur premises… get ur facts straight…
this is t real world brother…Nobody buys nything without negotiating… (unless ur man city)
n its pedophile my friend… dont use words tat u cant spell or words tat u dont understand….
n if wenger’s a pedophile then so is rafa … even u guys steal spanish kids n play them in ur reserves only to sell them later… t only difference is tat wenger makes a profit outta selling kids n u guys end up making a loss… tats y u r jealous of arsenal n arsene wenger…
Dom - June 2nd, 2009 at 8:28 pm
So you critisise me for not being able to spell when you can’t even spell the or that.
Ok then, in my opinion he is worth 18 minimum. How do u get the sum of 14mil? Cos wenger said so?
maniac - June 2nd, 2009 at 9:42 pm
haha, it made me laugh to dom. 14mil for a player like alonso. pure BULLshit…
L.F.C 4 LIFE - June 2nd, 2009 at 9:49 pm
we should never sell alonso. well when he gets like past the age of 33 the he can retire but know we should keep hold of him and not sell him especialy 4 14 mil are they havin a laff
john - June 2nd, 2009 at 10:06 pm
poor spuds: and arsenal reckon adebayor is worth 25 mil do they? for a fat lazy waste of space who cant be bothered to play? considering how good a season alonso has had i think he is worth at least 20 million. at least alonso cab be bothered to play.
at least benitez doesnt find hes players in african/french orphanages. the results speak for themselves

Caught Offside – Arsene Wenger decides which players to sign, not Cesc Fabregas
LFC "Supporter" - June 2nd, 2009 at 11:21 pm
don’t Arsenal Players want to get rid of Adebayor now??
john - June 2nd, 2009 at 11:37 pm
hey guys barry jus signed for city for 12 mil. lol wat a tool i hope he rots
TEDSUZUKI - June 3rd, 2009 at 1:10 am
14 million for Alonso? Juventus couldn’t even land him for 16 million last season! Besides Fabregas can states his preference all he likes but what does Alonso wants? He’s already said numerous times he is happy at Liverpool. Gerrard just came out saying he loves Barry but at the end of the day, look at what happened? Barry is joining Man City with a huge bumper pay. Guess all this talk from Barry about leaving Villa for Champions League is just spin and thin on substance. At the end, money rules the day. You think with a pathetic 14 million, LIverpool will listen to offer and Alonso would take a pay cut to join Arsenal? I seriously doubt it. If he is interested in trophies, I understand if he stays on at Liverpool or join Chelsea. if he wants money, he would hop on the first flight to Real Madrid or Chelsea. Very unlikely to Arsenal.
vince - June 3rd, 2009 at 1:26 am
I cannot see Xabi going to Arsenal that team has no ambition, no heart and they do not play with spirit. If anything Fabregas wants Xabi there so he can move to Barcelona next year.. If Rafa were to sell Xabi it would be to Spain for no less than 25 million. Xabis spot is pretty much safe in the starting line up with Barry now going to city…Liklihood- Xabi to stay at Liverpool…End of story.
Allahs boot - June 3rd, 2009 at 5:06 am
alonso wont be going anywhere,we would have bought barry.alonso can stay if he continues with the form of last season.
A - June 3rd, 2009 at 10:11 am
Are u guys stupid or wat? If Alonso stays u gonna play Gerr behind Torres yeah? So there wud be no place for an other striker!
A - June 3rd, 2009 at 10:14 am
Wat if Gerr or Torres gets injured? Are u gona cry like last season and playing players like N’gog and Lucas??
A - June 3rd, 2009 at 10:18 am
And if a quality striker comes in, theres no place for Alonso then( and he knows it) so he is just waiting for news!
A - June 3rd, 2009 at 10:21 am
So is it going to be like last season and letting Alonso stay or bring in a striker and have a bigger chance of trophies??
A - June 3rd, 2009 at 10:24 am
So the choice is yours Anfield faithful! I reckon if a striker comes in Alonso wud even go for less than that!
john - June 3rd, 2009 at 12:25 pm
@A : its called tactical rotation. if we are facing united or chelsea or some other half decent team we could play both cdm and 1 striker with gerrard behind. if its somebody like stoke then play the 1 cdm with 2 strikers and gerrard sitting behind. maybe even play both cdm and only 3 in defense. u jus need the options. if one stiker gets injured then we play the 2 cdm. if one cdm gets injured play the other. if gerrard gets injured then play 2 up top with 2cm instead of cdm. not as if they wont get enough games
CDM=Central defensive midfielder
CM=Central midfielder

Oh and Carrick as best passer in the Premiership…pissed myself!!!
I like that one! Ahahahahahaha. Who said that?
A- you are just bitter right that Alonso won’t be going to Arsenal. Besides you guys can’t afford him or at least Wenger won’t sign him for what he’s valued at. You should look at the stats again that Liverpool still scored more goals than anybody else. That’s in your theory playing with ONE striker.
Poor Spuds - June 3rd, 2009 at 6:27 pm
john:
i totally agree wit u… ade-bay-whore is a total waste of space @ arsenal…
but if milan r ready to pay up 25 million… we’re not complaining…
and dom… i use “t” for “the” cuz end of t day msg is conveyed… unlike t word pedophile… which has a certain meaning…
some kids here will be lookin up their dictionary n they’ll never find t meaning of t word cuz u spelt it wrong…
with words like “the” & “which” even a dom-key like urself can understand t meaning of it…
CHILL BROTHER…

First of all people criticising arsenals or liverpools style of play is worrying as they are the last two clubs in the big four to play attacking creative football.
Yes the majority of people are right, alonso is worth alot more than 14m, and i would make it more like 24m; but wenger has the money to buy him regardless and it would be worth it! Also claims that wenger rips other teams are true but it his ability to do proves his skill as a manager (18m for arshavin what a steal).
Lastly spanish players are the best atm are are not over valued like brazilians, I mean 30m for robinho come on.
