Rafa tries the personal touch in order to snare talented attacker.
It emerged last night that the Liverpool boss is pursuing Spain international winger david Silva with some vigour, and met with him in their native country earlier this week.
Silva told his fellow Spaniard that he would love to play in the Premier League, but there is still the stumbling block of the fee his club Valencia are demanding.
Benitez would pay around £17million for the 23 year old, but if his heavily indebted Spanish side try to spark an auction with the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona, then he will pull out of the bidding.

Rafa clearly means business and rarely returns from a trip Spain to meet a prospective target without clinching the deal. David Silva has been linked with a move to Anfield for 18 months or so but it does seem as though something is likely to happen very soon.
This source is right to point out the perils of a potential bidding war erupting for the Valencia attacker but I think Real Madrid have their minds on a whole different set of players and Barcelona probably don’t need to spend big this summer unless they are planning on a few departures.
Silva would be a fantastic signing and one who would go a long way to bridging the gap between title chasers and title winners.
Silva to Liverpool: I think this will happen pretty soon.
