As the Anfield boss looks for natural width he eyes up two top notch wingers.
The Wigan winger is in great demand, with reports linking him with moves to Manchester City, Real Madrid, Manchester United and, of course, Liverpool. The Ecuador international has been in great form as Wigan again avoided a relegation battle. Wigan would like to hold on to the midfielder but a bid in the region of £15m could change their minds.
The Tottenham winger began to rediscover the form that propelled him into the England set-up as the season went on. The 22-year-old has electric pace and a good delivery, and with Benitez happy to off-load Jermain Pennant on a permanent basis, Lennon could provide some competition for the right-wing berth. Some reports suggest Tottenham would like Pennant to join them at White Hart Lane, opening up the possibility of a swap deal.

It could be argued that Rafa could well need two wingers to be a complete side who can really compete on all fronts. I am a fan of Albert Riera but many believe he is too much of a confidence player who’s form dips far too often and it’s true that last season he started like a freight train but then slowed down before coming back to put in some good performances.
Both Lennon and Valencia can play on both wings but arguably are both at their best when on the right which of course is a position which Dirk Kuyt has done valiantly to fill this term but even the most ardent lover of the Dutch trier would have to concede that the club could do well to put in a player of natural width and perhaps put Kuyt back up alongside Torres? Obviously such a move would only be beneficial if Benitez could bring in a winger who was really top quality and both of these guys are.
Kuyt/Lennon to Liverpool: If Rafa fails to land David Silva then either of these become far bigger priorities that could well be secured as both would very much like to play Champions League football and challenge for top silverware and are unlikely to manage such successes at their current clubs.
