Manchester United make Massive £16m+ Bid for Wing Wizard
by Steven Constable on June 8th, 2009 1 commentSir Alex lines up big bid for a very classy winger
The Rumour
Sky Sports News understands Wigan have received bids in excess of £16million from Manchester United and Real Madrid for Antonio Valencia.
The Ecuadorian winger has long been linked with the two European giants and it is now reported that the pair have tabled offers.
United are searching for creativity after big-money signing Nani has failed to live up to expectations and Valencia is said to have impressed boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Analysis
If all the talk of a sale of Cristiano to Real Madrid is indeed true then this move becomes even more significant. On the surface this piece otherwise seems a little confusing. The idea that Valencia would be brought in as a replacement for Nani, who is essentially only a squad player at best, seems a little far fetched.
The Wigan man has talent in abundance and if Sir Alex was to put in such a large bid it wouldn’t be just so that he could replace a player who barely gets a look in. Unless of course the idea is to totally reshape the team by putting Rooney back into his preferred position of striker and not out wide left as he finished last season. With Tevez set to leave such a move would appear to make sense.
The Likelihood
Valencia to Man United: It’s a dream move for the Ecuadorian who would surely prefer to stay in England and make the short move to the Premier League champions.
