Harry Redknapp registers interest in goal scorer par excellence
The Rumour
Tottenham are leading the race to sign Ruud van Nistelrooy – with Real Madrid ready to let the Dutch hitman go for just £1.25million.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has registered a keen interest in the former Manchester United goal machine, who has been told he can leave the Bernabeu after the return of club president Florentino Perez.
Van Nistelrooy, 32, has been out with a serious knee injury since November but expects to be fit by the start of next season.

The Analysis
If Harry could pull this move off it would be one hell of a coup. Ruud may well be getting on a bit and have a few injury concerns at present but he is still more than capable of making an impact. The 32 year old has had great success in Spain and in the last three season he has an impressive strike record of 63 goals from 93 appearances, which is damned impressive.
Now that Florentino Perez has installed a new boss at the Bernabeu and shows every sign that he is about to make many a purchase the Dutchman could well become lost in the flood and would probably be more than happy to give a move back to the Premier League a go.
Obviously the former Man United man would command a big salary but if he can be purchased for such a paltry fee concerns of his wage demands would diminish.
The Likelihood
Van Nistelrooy to Spurs: Perhaps a bridge too far for Redknapp? Or maybe not?
