So that’s that then!
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has distanced himself from a £12m move for Napoli’s Ezequiel Lavezzi.
Reports in Italy claim talks have taken place between Napoli and intermediaries acting on Liverpool’s behalf and that Manchester City have been made aware of the financial package needed to lure the 24-year-old away.
But Benitez said: ‘We never contacted Lavezzi and we have no intention of doing so. We want to put a stop to these rumours.’

So that’s the end of that…probably. To be honest both Lavezzi’s agent and Napoli both seemed to be playing games with potential suitors for the Argentine star, asking for far too much money and seemingly trying to secure a new bumper contract with the Serie A side by inventing and promoting interest that may have never been there in the first place!
It’s a shame in one way though, how cool would it be to have a player called Ezuquiel in your team!
Lavezzi not going to Liverpool: Rafa seems to have put the kibosh on that move and rightly so.
