Rafa means business!
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez won’t give up on landing Portsmouth fullback Glen Johnson.
The Daily Mail says Benitez is keen to step up his transfer activity, after returning from holiday, but knows he will need his entire budget of £15million, at least, to pip Chelsea in the race for Portsmouth’s England right-back Johnson.

Of all the players linked with a move to Anfield, and there have been hundreds, Glen Johnson must be one of those who really does whet the appetite of the Liverpool faithful. The right back is an exciting player who has been in top form with the struggling Portsmouth side and is now an England regular.
Whilst Liverpool‘s first choice right back Alvaro Arbeloa is a steady enough character (even when up against Jamie Carragher) he is by no means spectacular and Johnson offers more in my opinion as a player who can really get attacks going.
The Spanish right back quite often gets found out of position and is forced to pull down an attacker and pick up a booking, this was evidenced last season by the picking up of 11 yellow cards. The Portsmouth man seems to be a more composed customer with the pace to back track and cover without having to needlessly bring down an opponent
Johnson to Liverpool: It seems to be a two horse race and surely Glen wouldn’t want to return to Stamford Bridge after his last spell there!
