Manchester United Star Seals Record Breaking £80m Move: Will Cristiano Ronaldo be missed?
by Mr Comfort on June 11th, 2009 344 words | 34 commentsFinally it appears the speculation is over!
Manchester United have accepted a world record offer of £80m from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo.
“United have agreed to give Real Madrid permission to talk to the player,” read a statement from the Old Trafford club.
It added that the decision came at Ronaldo’s request after he “again expressed his desire to leave”.
United described the offer for the 24-year-old winger as unconditional and added that they expected the matter to be concluded by 30 June.
Madrid have made it clear that they hope to have the deal concluded before the end of the month.“Real Madrid confirm they have made an offer to Manchester United for the acquisition of the rights of the player Cristiano Ronaldo,” said the Spanish club in a statement.
“The club hope to reach an agreement with the player in the next few days.” (BBC Sport)
So, will Man United fans miss the Portuguese International or is this in some way a weight off the club’s shoulders and ends months of speculation about the talented attacker?
Surely Old Trafford supporters have every reason to be annoyed with the 24 year old after he repeatedly dodged or refuted allegations that he would indeed join Real Madrid as it now appears to be the case that he will indeed become the latest of the ‘new galaticos’ purchased by President Florentino Perez.
There can be no doubt just how much he has achieved at the Premier League champions. His record speaks for itself and his return of 117 goals from 242 starts is incredible and he will be a hard man to replace but Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly been given the lions share of the record breaking transfer fee to bring in new faces and perhaps such a move paves way for Carlos Tevez to make his loan move permanent it also gives Wayne Rooney a chance to play as an out and out striker, a role he longed to return too despite his successful spell out on the left.

If look at a bigger picture, seems like it’s not an ideal time to sell him… Ferguson not only required to buy one big name, but probably 4-5 to replace Giggs, Scholes, Van Der Sar & probably Tevez – given he don’t want the qaulity of the squad drop too much… not to mention it need time to build up teamwork…
Seems like Chelsea, Man C & may be Arsenal become our bigger concern next few years!

man u wont score as much goals they wont have lady boy to take their free kicks, also with the likes of 4-5 players coming in, they need time to settle down as a squad, as for us opur team is stronng and so is the spirit 1 or 2 players should feel comfortable settling in

Haha Man U gonna have to wait a couple of seasons for another trophy by then Fergie will be gone. Ronaldo wasn’t a great team player but who else have Man U got that good in midfield, who will replace Ronaldo Luis Valencia hahahaha. Fergie is gonna have to rebuild, there squad is losing strength with Giggs, Scholes, Van Der Sar, finished there depth is falling. Man U can put Rooney RM bring in a striker possibly Benzema. Or replace Ronaldo but who, my guess Gourcoff or Valencia. Liverpool epl winners next season!

TORRES is A FUKIN PONCE,HOW ARE PEOPLE COMPARING HIM TO ONE OF THE GREATEST PLAYERS TO GRACE THE GAME????
TORRES COST 20 MIL…..RONALDO COSTS 80 MIL…..SO U CAN BUY 4 PLAYERS THE CALIBRE OF TORRES WIT THE MONEY THAT WE ARE GETTING FOR RONALDO….FERGIE KNOWS WAT HE’S DOING AND BE ASSURED THAT THERE ARE GOING TO BE SOME SURPRISE ARRIVALS AT OLD TRAFFORD THIS SEASON RESULTING FROM THIS MEGA CASH FLOW!!!!
Andy_7 - June 12th, 2009 at 5:57 am
Gr8 business from Sir Alex, bcoz we is in a recession dat is a ASTRONOMICAL amount ov money, Sir Alex can buy 3-4 players wit dat cash. Sign up Tevez, hope we can get Benzema, Silva/Ribery. Valencia looks like a dne deal, i think he has plenty ov potential n at Utd, Fergie will turn him in2 n even beta player. Nt expecting miracles, Utd will av 2 re-build, i hope d signings i mentioned will happen.
I hope we sell Park, Nani, Kuscasck, Simpson (already sold Campbell 6m)
UTD 4 EVA!!!
The EPL title race will b much more interesting this yr, Liverpool, Chelsea n Arsenal mite actually av a chance now, plus dere squads r more complete n wont expect 2 much changes. May d best team win..

whoshotkennedy - June 12th, 2009 at 8:44 am
‘die scousers die’ fergie won’t be allowed to spend the whole money that’s for sure…you have to pay back your debts too which is larger than ours anyway. And you say Torres cost 20million to BUY, Ronaldo cost 80million for SALE, I’m pretty sure if Torres wanted to leave for Real, they would easily pay around 70millions for us…or more. You all just got kicked in the balls and you know that whisky nose won’t be able to replace a 40goals/35points a season player…I can see only Benzema and Robben going to manure…as the others aren’t very interested in playing for you.this will cost you…your team is toothless without him
Anonymous - June 12th, 2009 at 11:08 am
die scousers die! : i actually rate torres higher than i do ronaldo…..torres has an impact on the game unlike that lazy diving piece of shite

yeah ronaldo does fall over alot when someone goes near his hair
DIE Scousers DIE!! - June 12th, 2009 at 1:18 pm
Torres is a injury prone player just like Owen….wat fuked up player misses more than half of their clubs games????
@whoshotkennedy-70mil???????u must be off ur rocker….
And u need not worry about us getting goals….even our defenders score regularly!!!
Besides Rooney will once again get back his central role where he just kicks ass…i mean just look at wat he’s doing for england….
Fact - June 12th, 2009 at 7:41 pm
A new era of liverpool domination is once again upon us just wait and see mancunian vomit.

die scouser die –
reading wat u wrote simply means dat ur a fukin IDIOT. stop smokin wateva ur smokin-itz messing wit dat peanut sized brain of urs.
rmbr 1-4 at OT. Without ronaldo utd r weaker no matter who they get (dey r nt gonna get messi – torres – gerrard – kaka… top 5 wit diver boy) !!!
no ron means less penalties, free kicks 4 diving!
LFC needs only a winger (silva) n a good backup 4 torres! nxt season is ours.
calvo - June 13th, 2009 at 8:14 pm
Of course there is gonna be times when ppl and especially the media will say”If Ronaldo was there…”
And of course there are gonna be times when he is gonna be missed thats natural it happens.
But the one thing that helps is the fact that Utd have lost alot greater players and STILL won trophies and not many teams can say that.
So while its thanks for the memories and all that, great Utd have some added cash to spend and challenges to overcome.
The bigger job is replacing Scholes.

(ridiculous name by the way….sounds like u are bimbo….and u talk like one too)
wat your tiny fuked up brain doesn’t comprehend is the fact that having top players don’t ensure victory…..if that was true then Liverpool would have been able to clinch at least one title in the past two decades….don’t ya think????
as for us scoring penalties and free kicks…you need not worry we have the PFA player of the year on our side whose mean left foot has decimated many a mercyside team….Giggs has been playing since Torres was still wetting his bed and can still run circles round the spanish puta!!!!
What LFC needs if it hopes to stand a chance next season-
1)is a decent manager…. not a spanish reject
2)a good pool of players from ALL OVER THE WORLD not just Spain
3)to get over their dependence on gerrard and torres
And since we already know none of this is gonna happen next season i can safely say Manchester United is gonna get the title for the record nineteenth time and become the most successful club in english history!!!!!
