Could this deal persuade Rafa to sell?
Benitez would want big money for Alonso, approaching £30million, but Spanish sports paper AS claim that strikers Alvaro Negredo and Alberto Bueno could be included in any deal.
Negredo, 23, has spent the last two years on loan at Almeria, and scored 19 goals last season. Under his current deal Real Madrid own 50% of any possible deal for the player and they also have a buy-back option.
He said: ‘My future depends on Real Madrid, but I believe that this summer it is logical that I am interested in playing in the Premier League and especially Liverpool.

Is Rafa resigned to losing Xabi? It appears so. When rumours circulated that Javier Mascherano may leave the club (mainly due to some measly words from his agent) Benitez made it abundantly clear he wasn’t for sale yet he hasn’t been quite so vehement in his desire to keep Alonso which leads many to believe that the club is getting ready to let the Spaniard depart.
This latest offer of a couple of players plus cash may well appeal to the Liverpool boss. Clearly Real Madrid know that in many ways in today’s economic downturn that players are better than cold hard cash. Negredo has been linked with a move Anfield for a while now and is a good striker who has greatly excelled whilst on loan at minnows Almeria. Less is known about Alberto Bueno which is probably down to the fact that the support striker/left winger has only played three times for the Madrid side. He is a pint sized attacker with a good burst of pace and can apparently be a lethal finisher.
Bueno/Negredo swap with Xabi Alonso: Could be the deal that Rafa takes depending on how much money the club would get on top of the two swapped players.
