Sir Alex and Man United fans must both be a little relieved that the whole “will he/won’t he” circus that accompanied the Cristiano Ronaldo affair is over and one shouldn’t underplay just how well the Premier League champions have done financially out of his move to Real Madrid.
Now it appears that Ferguson wants to add some steel in his midfield, something that was missing when the club bowed to Barcelona at the Stadio Olimpico. Yaya Toure was immense that day, comfortably filling in at centre back and preventing the Mancunians from scoring.
Brazilian youngster Anderson was poor that day and unable to thwart the advances of Iniesta and Xavi. Paul Scholes is getting on a bit and seems unlikely to figure a great deal in the next year or two. Owen Hargreaves may never play again according to some reports and whist Darren Fletcher had a great season it is clear that the club could do with a new enforcer and a move for Kolo’s younger brother would be a wise one, but would the Ivorian prefer to stay at the Nou Camp or even consider a move to Arsenal?
Yaya Toure to Man United: Would be a great capture if Sir Alex can pull it off.
