Liverpool Prepare £5m Bid For Excellent Young Defender: Bargain of the Season

The Rumour
CASH-STRAPPED Liverpool are preparing a £5million move for England Under-21 defender Micah Richards.
Manchester City boss Mark Hughes is ready to offload the 20-year-old defender, who burst on to the international stage two years ago.
Hughes wants Portsmouth’s Glen Johnson and that would push Richards out of the first-team picture at Eastlands next season. Anfield boss Rafa Benitez, aware of the financial constraints he will have to work under this summer, believes he could pick up a bargain.
Richards has already been capped 11 times and Benitez wants a powerful and versatile defender to strengthen his squad for next season’s Premier League title assault.

The Analysis
In the past month or so there has been growing speculation that Mark Hughes is prepared to let Micah Richards leave the club and it’s a decision, if accurate, that greatly confuses me. In Richards the club have a fantastic prospect of a player who has been very impressive for the club and even though he suffered a dip in form last term it really does make little sense that the club is willing to allow the 20 year old leave.
Still City’s loss could be someone else’s gain. Liverpool are now linked with the adaptable England man who is probably a little better at right back than he is at the centre of defence. He is a tireless worker who has a lot to offer and the valuation placed on him by this source is quite simply a bargain!
Micah would surely jump at the chance of moving to Anfield and therefore leaving one club with pretensions of title challenges and silverware and joining one who is already very much at that point already. Such a signing would also fit in nicely with Benitez’s aim to bring in more ‘homegrown’ talent to the club.
Anyone questioning the source should rest assured that this rumour is doing the rounds in many other sites/papers.
The Likelihood
Richards to Liverpool: Would be a very intelligent and financially astute signing.

Agree with Donovan here. Not needed. I rather have Aberloa to compete with Johnson (if he is coming) on the right. Save the 5 million and use it to buy someone to shore up the attack.

theres no way in hell he’d only go for 5 million it’s a bit of an insult to richards and city, doubt it’s true though.

Again i find myself agreeing with you Mr Donovan, Why do we need Richards?? yes he’s got the makings of a great player but we have Agger and Skrtel as our future CB and Johnson as RB and Insua as LB i just don’t see where we can play him?? ok 5mill is a joke he should be worth 15mill for the prospect, Wenger should really be calling his micahs agent right now as this could be a match made in heaven for Arsenal…. even Real Madrid could do worse..
Maybe Rafa wants to play him as a Striker????? LOL
Only joshing in Rafa we trust
