Creaking Bernabeu needs refurbishment!
The Rumour
Real Madrid are reported to be lining up a move for Arsenal left-back Gael Clichy as new coach Manuel Pellegrini turns his attentions to shoring up his defence.
Fresh from securing the services of Brazilian Kaka and having an £80m bid accepted for Cristiano Ronaldo, Real are showing no signs of letting up on their spending spree.
According to the London Evening Standard, Pellegrini has earmarked the Gunners’ French defender as the player he wants to strengthen Real’s shaky defence.

The Analysis
If Real Madrid are not careful they are going to be labelled the Man City of La Liga, albeit they do actually make the purchases they threaten to make. Now it appears Arsenal wide man Gael Clichy is taking the club’s fancy.
The 23 year old has steadily grown into the club’s left back role and following Ashley Cole’s acrimonious departure for Chelsea the French International has made the spot his own, thankfully for the north London club when Gael was injured youngster Kieran Gibbs manfully filled the role.
Having now mounted up 150+ starts for the Gunners he has become part of the furniture and a player who doesn’t strike me as the kind to consider such a move. Real clearly feel that now that they have the creativity of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo they now need to do something about their leaky defence, a defence that let in an unprecedented 52 goals last season, but i think they will have to look elsewhere!
The Likelihood
Clichy to Real Madrid: Not going to happen!
