The Rumour
ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger is in talks with Stuttgart midfielder
.
The Gunners manager wants to add experience to his side and the former Aston Villa star fits the bill.
Hitzlsperger, 27, is out of contract next year but Stuttgart will do a deal at around £5million.
Yesterday in SunSport Cesc Fabregas called for Wenger to buy a ball-winner in midfield. Hitz fits the bill.

The Analysis
Hitzlsperger became something of a cult figure at Villa Park after joining the club at 17 he battled his way through the youth and reserve ranks before establishing himself as regular first team player but it was at Stuttgart where he became more of a household name and an international mainstay.
He helped the Baden based club to their first Bundesliga crown in 15 years in 2007 and regularly weighs in with solid performances and his long range finishing has become commonplace and could well be a welcome addition at the Emirates.
Cesc Fabregas has indeed stated that he wants to see the club bring in a tough tackling midfielder and whilst Thomas isn’t the sort of player that gets his fair share of yellow cards he does know how to break down the opposing attacks intelligently and has already proven himself capable of doing well in the Premier League.
The Likelihood
Hitzlsperger to Arsenal: If Wenger can get the former Villa man for just £5m it would be a bargain and a half!

Senna would have been nice, but bring this guy in he sounds just like gilberto! Furthermore he has the same knack as gallas therefore buying this guy makes it easier for arsenal to get rid of gallas, which will mean whoevers playing instead of gallas will concentrate on their job rather than scoring. The thing is ,arsenal are never going to get yaya tuore as he has already stated that our offer was shite.

This guy is not good enough to fill the Arsenal centre midfield berth, but then again neither is Denilson & don’t even talk to me about Nasri sitting there. not his type of role.
Rather just give song another chance than get Thomas Shitburger

Yeh denilson isnt quite up to the standard of defensive mid that we need yet. Song doesnt really have the skills of a mid, and your definitely right about nasri; playing him in defensive mid could ruin his development. Just look at his playing style on the wing, who does he remind you of from that very same position.

well.. the price tag of 5 million itself suggests t pedigree of t player…
it says tat stuttgart aint keen enuf to hang on to him… if he’s dispensable 2 a team like stuttgart then i really doubt t standards he wud set after coming to the emirates….
theres only one way to beat them get round the back, catch me if you can as i am a liverpool man... - June 17th, 2009 at 6:17 pm
i just don’t understand why Arsenal don’t buy Sissoko from Juventus. He’s not doing much there since poulsen came. A bid of £5-8 mill should do it. Then you have got a tough tackling def midfielder who has premiership experience and is 25. I just don’t get it…. he only left liverpool because mascherano has just made the midfield his own and after essien is one of the best in the world…

Yeh essien is on a whole another level in defensive mid!
