Liverpool Fans Should Forget the Past and Sign this £1.25m Goal Machine!

OK, hear me out regarding this crazy idea before you bash it into submission. Whilst, we’d all love for Rafa to go out and get a David Villa-esque player this summer to act as cover (or play upfront) with Torres next season, I think we’re all in agreement that the sheer cost of signing such a player without having to sell for the extra funds makes such a move very difficult.
We all know that Rafa has been given transfer funds for the summer; we just don’t know exactly how much he’s been given. With that in mind, I’ve got a short-term option that could reap rewards for a relatively low cost.
With Real Madrid currently buying every big name on the market, they’ve come to that point in the summer where they need to sell to recoup some of the roughly £150m they spent on Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo.
One of the first names on the chopping block is former United striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy. At the age of 33, the Madrid striker is certainly on the back-end of his career. But if the rumored £1.25million cut-price is legitimate, then I see no reason why Rafa shouldn’t join Tottenham in the race for his services. (Anfield Red)

Would such a move be a bridge too far? He still has a year or two in him and has a proven track record in the Premier League.

I really hope not.

would be a great signing for that price.

I don’t know about him, he was a great player but i just don’t think he is now so i’d prefer someone who is playing more games but also not at 40-50 million so although Lavezzi has been mentioned already he would be great but also someone like Thierry Henry or Miroslav Klose as these 2 have bags of experience at a high level and still do a great job

I’d prefer someone more prolific rather then a past timer. Lukas Podolski would have been perfect. Young, Versitile, cheap and a great goal scorer but we’ve missed out there, but someone better then Ruud would be good

Yes he was a good player in his time but at his age now would it be worth buying him for even that amount when Kuyt does a decent job and has more potential.

No chance! He was an awesome player, note WAS, even if he did play for the mancs. He would probably only be looking for one last big pay day.
I’d love to be proven wrong though cos he really was that good and you could imagine Torres running off of him the way he can hold up the ball!

I think he would be a step backward for liverpool.
He is so cheap for several reasons
1 has had a suspect knee since his days at psv Eindhoven and has never been able to shake it off.
2 has the kind of face that once placed on over sized posters in the windows of the club shop has the potential to scare away young prospective fans and also raise the alurring attentions of any passing female police horses leading to an unsightly episode involving a sex crazed filly dry humping a card board cut out in the middle of the city centre. Again scaring away young prospective fans. I realise that this sounds unlikely as Ruud is an ugly man but he is considered beautiful by most equine animals.
3 he is now very much in the twighlight if his career. At 33 the most I feel Ruud has to offer is experience.
Now it is said that you can’t teach the goal poachers mindset. That it’s an inate ability to be in the right place at the right time. So what will he teach?
How to make a few boob whilst you sit on the bench?
4 he is a cheating diving mancunian scumbag and always will be so all the daft romanticists stop imagining he will fight for the liverpool cause.
Oh yeah and Ruud where ever you go take that jump ship rat Michael Owen with you!!!!

redryan love it man…
Ruud simply can’t cut it in the premiership anymore. Wasn’t bit Ruud who made Ronaldo cry or something i remember hearing….
Its a well known FACT that the premiership is the fastest and physically strongest in the league and if you plying your trade in the premiership and you coming up towards 30 odd then your best bet is the italian/ la liga leagues.
Its slower and more technical as well as some of the ref’s being a bit suspect about diving. Players like sol campbell, could prob add another 4 years to there playing life.
Now as we saw with Morietes a player a little older comping from outside the premiership trying to adapt just hasn’t got the ability to do it. however put him back in spain then he’s playing well again…
