There has been a fair bit of speculation that Ashley Young has been to visit Spurs representatives in recent days and it appears that Harry Redknapp is trying to come up with a good swap deal to persuade Martin O’Neill to let one of his prized possessions leave.
Aston Villa have of course already lost Gareth Barry and will not want to see more talent leave the club but if the deal meant that two good players came in, as well as some cash, then perhaps it would do the trick.
Yes David Bentley flopped at White Hart Lane but he is a good, if not great, right sided midfielder and Jermaine Jenas on his day is a fine midfielder who far too often isn’t on his day! Hence Redknapp being willing to let both players leave.
Ashley Young to Tottenham: It’s possible, however Man United are reported to be taking a fancy to the former Watford man, so perhaps that would trump this potential move?
