Time to persuade Owners to get out their cheque books!
Valencia ace David Villa would only move to England to play for Rafa Benitez’s Liverpool.
The £40million-rated Valencia hitman is being chased by Chelsea, Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Yet Villa has told close friends he would only leave Spain to link up with fellow countrymen Rafa Benitez and Fernando Torres at Anfield, says The Sun.
Amazingly, Liverpool boss Benitez is not even in the running for Villa.
The Kop outfit cannot compete with Barca, who have bid £37m, and Madrid who have offered £35m.

Given that Real Madrid have seemingly pulled out of the race to sign David Villa and that Barcelona have more than enough attacking talent, if Liverpool are really the only team he would join in the Premier League, then surely Rafa should do all he can to make it happen!
Yes it would require selling a great many squad players but the strike partnership of Villa and Torres would be the best in the Premier League. Maybe it’s time that the American owners put their money where their mouths are and really delve into the transfer market as everyone else seems to be doing!
If you look at the clubs spending on players against the money they have recouped on sales it works out that in the past two seasons the club has forked out a relatively paltry £13m more on incoming players than outgoing. In comparison, Chelsea have spent £26m more than sold, Man United around £20 (if you include the loan fee for Tevez), Even Arsenal have effectively spent more than the Anfield side with £18m more on purchases than sales. Manchester City have spent an astronomical £135m on bringing players in over the past two seasons and have sold players to the value of less than £10m!
So maybe it is time Hicks and Gillett pumped some more money into the club!
Villa to Liverpool: The player may be interested but can the cash be found?
