Having missed out on Johnson Stamford Bridge readies itself for another full back bid!

CHELSEA last night swung their attention to £25million Brazilian Maicon Douglas.
The Blues have missed out on long-term target Glen Johnson, with Liverpool confirming an £18.5m deal yesterday.

But Inter Milan right-back Maicon has impressed in the Confederations Cup in South Africa and kept Barcelona ace Dani Alves out of Brazil’s starting line-up.

Inter will accept £25m for the 27-year-old defender and are even willing to part with idol Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 27, for another £50m.

The Analysis

Having missed out on Glen Johnson it appears that Carlo Ancelotti is determined to bring in another right back and is not worried about the expense! Maicon is a talented attack minded right back who has been outstanding in his time at Inter Milan and is a player that Jose Mourinho will not be keen to sell, even to his former employers.

I would have thought that Chelsea would have been pleased with Jose Bosingwa’s first season at the club and he was one of the most impressive right sided defenders in the Premier League but apparently he may not be to Ancelotti’s liking.

£25m for a full back may seem absurd but in today’s hugely inflated market nothing surprises me and I would not be in the least bit surprised if the west London outfit manage to wave enough money in front of the former Monaco man and do indeed seal the deal.
