Experienced midfielder linked with a move to Anfield.
Javier Mascherano’s future at Liverpool remains in the balance despite the club’s declarations he is staying. However, the player continues to invite attention from Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona. The Argentine star is reportedly unhappy with his current wages and his family have struggled to settle on Merseyside. If Rafa Benitez was to cash in on the £30-rated defensive midfielder an extremely cheap alternative is readily available, that player would be the Danish hardman Christian Poulsen up for grabs for just £4m.

Clearly this source believes Javier’s days at Anfield are numbered but I think they are getting a little ahead of themselves. Yes his missus may not like it in England but the Argentine clearly loves the club and Rafa has made it abundantly clear that he has absolutely no intention of selling the midfielder.
However that being said Christian Poulsen is a good player who has been around for a while and honed his skills across Europe and could well be a good addition to the squad. Currently the likes of Lucas, bad player, are called upon when injury of poor form affect the club’s central midfield areas and this Danish international could well be a good player to have in the clubs armoury.
Oddly enough Christian was purchased by Juventus after the club’s former boss Claudio Ranieri decided to give up on Xabi Alonso last summer.
Poulsen to Liverpool: Could well be a good bit of business.
