Benitez tries to nab the man he came so close to signing two years ago.
El Mundo Deportivo says Spurs boss Harry Redknapp faces competition from Chelsea and Liverpool for the ex-Manchester United defender.
Reds boss Rafa Benitez sees him as an experienced replacement for Sami Hyypia.

Gabriel Heinze is a player who Rafa of course tried to purchase from Man United before Sir Alex decided to scupper the move and hence send the Argentine to Real Madrid where in his first season he lifted the La Liga title. Since then however he has become something of a bit part player and by no means a regular.
His last visit to Anfield was something of a disaster of course with the defender unluckily adjudged to handled the ball to give Liverpool a crucial spot kick which led the game to something of a rout. The ever grinning left back is also a very decent centre back and it may be this adaptability that best suits Benitez as he looks to help cover the loss of Sami Hyypia.
Surely Heinze would jump at the chance of a move to Anfield as he was very much looking forward to the proposed move two years back before Ferguson put the kibosh on it!
