Sir Alex wants the deal done now!
The Rumour
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is serious about a deal for Wigan Athletic winger Antonio Valencia.
It’s been suggested Ferguson is turning to alternative targets, but The Times says he hopes to conclude a deal for Valencia, the Ecuador international, before the squad flies to Asia for a pre-season tour in the middle of next month.

The Analysis
It seems logical that manager’s want transfer business done and dusted before pre-season begins however that is never how it works and the deal for Luis Antonio Valencia shows every sign of taking a while to conclude.
Wigan Athletic are keen to get what they want for the hugely impressive Ecuadorian and their valuation appears to not quite match Man United‘s, and even though they have just received a hefty chunk of change for Cristiano Ronaldo they will not so easily pay over the odds for a player.
Valencia is a top notch winger and has had three good seasons at the JJB but to be fair £18.5m does seem a little steep for a player who moved to Latics on an undisclosed fee that would surely not have been a quarter of what they are now asking for the player.
The Likelihood
Valencia to Man Utd: A fee will be agreed and he will almost certainly be on the far east tour with the rest of his new squad.
