The former former Tottenham full-back, currently at Tottenham, is looking like a future former Tottenham full-back as well. The French star served up a brilliant ace to manoeuvre his way out of Wigan in 2006 – handing in a transfer request which he’d hidden in his sock for the entire final game of the season. Then Spurs and Sunderland traded him in a rapid-fire transfer rally. And now he’s on his way to Marseille. Or at least he’s been offered to Marseille. It’s a start.

Can anyone explain to me why Harry Redknapp even brought Chimbonda back from Sunderland in the first place? It seemed a mighty strange deal made stranger by the fact that once he was re-signed in January he only started once in his second spell, oddly enough against the Black Cats?
I don’t think Spurs fans were sad to see the back of the somewhat frustrating Frenchman the first time so are unlikely to shed a tear on another departure!
Chimbonda to Marseille: Hopefully he won’t be re-signed again!
