Benitez said to have found some money under the sofa!
According to Spanish radio Liverpool have managed to find the funds to make a massive bid for David Villa of Valencia.
It has seemed to be a certainty that Villa would stay in Spain but the reporter on Valencia radio stated that David Villa’s head may have been turned by Fernando Torres and that while he still wants to stay in Spain the one club he would join outside Spain is Liverpool.
Liverpool’s finances have improved it appears and they are ready to test Valencia and David Villa with a very big offer, they are very serious by all accounts and feel confident that they stand a good chance of getting him.
In Marca today the battle lines are being drawn by Barcelona and Real Madrid and with Liverpool now entering the battle it is now purely down to the player and with Torres in Villa’s ear it may not be so far fetched that David Villa indeed becomes a Liverpool player.

This is interesting news that should of course be taken with a massive pinch of salt but perhaps given the recent financial improvements at the club Rafa could enter the race for the diminutive striker. Liverpool would appear to need another striker or at the very least a player to play directly behind Fernando Torres in the hole.
David Villa and El Nino obviously form a potent partnership for their country and that has led to speculation that the Valencia man would very much be interested in joining his Spanish compatriots at Anfield. Such a move won’t be cheap and even Real Madrid have baulked at matching Villa’s employers demands.
Whoever manages to get snare the forward will be getting a striker in the form of his life as illustrated in his fantastic club form last season which saw him net 31 times in 40 matches. Now that his club has failed to qualify for the Champions League he may well feel it is time for a new challenge.
Villa to Liverpool: I feel Valencia will sell the striker before the new season but it’s anyone’s guess where he will end up.
