Joe Cole could be on his way from Chelsea this summer.

The Analysis
Rafa Benitez is apparently unconvinced of the merits of Albert Rieira after the Spaniard had an up and down first season at Anfield and the Liverpool boss has been linked with a number of left sided midfielders including decent Boro man Adam Johnson and vastly overrated Boro man Stewart Downing but surely a move for Joe Cole would trump any other players on Rafa’s wish-list?
Cole has been linked with a move to the Merseyside outfit before and now it appears Carlo Ancelotti doesn’t see the England man as part of his long term plans and with a World Cup looming the 27 year old won’t want to be stuck on the Stamford Bridge bench next term.
He would also fit in nicely to Benitez’s plans to bring in more British talent ahead of the 6+5 ruling that could well come into effect in the Premier League soon, hence his signing of Glen Johnson last week.
The Likelihood
Joe Cole to Liverpool: There has been talk of Cole being up for a move to join his former Hammers boss Harry Redknapp at Spurs but surely he would far prefer to move to a title chasing outfit with Champions League football on offer!

17 million is quite steep for someone who hasn’t been playing a lot and pushing 30. How Joe Cole is better than Yossi and Riera, frankly, I am not convinced. So if he comes, I think he is just adding to the numbers and not really the quality. I think we will let some supposedly ‘big’ team who could splash big where no one is really showing interest to keep him!
Oh yes…Lennon, Wright may be English but I mean no offense, they are not exactly great and world class. You will be paying over the odds for them who in reality are very average players. If they are that super incredibly great, you will see teams like Barca, Real, Man U fighting for their signatures but you don’t!
I would love to see England win the world cup but the fact is they haven’t done that because the players are so over rated. Even at the moment, if I do have the all the money in the world, I will probably only buy these players for Liverpool. They are John Terry, Ashley Rooney Young (for someone who I think have TRUE potential), Walcott and probably that’s about it. Many of the England players are so over rated and over priced and I can understand why Wenger, Rafa and others will buy the South Americans, French, Spanish, Italian players instead because some of them are way better and at a more reasonable price. To me, who cares if they are English or Ethopian but if they add genuine class and value to Liverpool’s squad, get them.
